Nate sat in the brown leather armchair and looked around, anxiously drumming his fingers on his thigh. The room he was in was like a doctor's waiting room, white walls and dark blue carpet with sparse furnishings. He got up and walked over to the single window, gazing out at the generic street lined with trees. He'd been told that he'd been given the opportunity of a lifetime, the opportunity to peek into his future. He checked his watch, it was five minutes past the stated meeting time. The wait was killing him, what had they meant by "a peek into his future?"
Another five minutes passed and the musician's anxiety only increased. Resuming the tapping on his leg he started to sing one of his songs, his Steven Universe one. "You and I we both know well, I couldn't do this by myself. And every day it's all the same you picked me up when down I fell."
Suddenly Nate heard the sound of a familiar voice pick up the song, "And I'm still standing through and through, I know exactly what to do, I'll give it everything I got although I'm not stronger than you." The voice was slightly deeper and more rich than he was used to but there was no mistaking it.
Nate turned around and was met with a sight that made his jaw drop.
A tall, well-built man stood in the doorway, leaning casually on the frame. "Hello Nate." He said, smiling, "I heard you had an appointment with me." The man was a little taller than Nate himself, and was wearing a slightly rumpled dress shirt with a loosely tied tie around his neck and a pair of suit pants with the matching black suit jacket slung over one shoulder, his hair was ruffled in a 'I woke up this handsome' kind of way. "It's nice to see you again."
Closing his mouth, Nate was hard pressed not to stare, "so this is what they meant. I take it that means you're..."
"Yep," the other said, bringing his jacket around and pulling out a pair of black rimmed glasses, putting them on and grinning broadly, "I'm you. From the future."
