They say there's a language that is unique to each couple, be they romantically or platonically paired, that can be spoken without words and in fractions of a second. Whole conversations can happen with but a glance, and no one else is any the wiser.

Matt glared sternly at Marisha, "Choose, Keyleth of the Air Ashari," he gestured grandly to his left where a small gathering of the people of Pyrah who had survived the initial return of the Cinder King, "your people?" He then gestured to the right, where the rest of Vox Machina were being held. "Or your friends?"

There was an audible gasp from the players as they all reeled in shock.

Marisha's face was full of fear and surprise, tears beginning to well in her eyes. "I-I..."

It tore Matt up inside seeing her like that, he could tell she needed a rest, this had been an emotionally exhausting session for her. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table top and changing his voice back to his own as the stern expression became coy and teasing. "And that is where we'll be leaving it for this week."

There an eruption of groans and cursing from the tables across from him as they began to pack away.

Matt, however, kept his gaze fixed on Marisha. He could see her still shocked and afraid, could still see a faint flicker of Keyleth still in her eyes. He smiled warmly at her, speaking in that wordless language they had. "Marisha? You holding up okay?"

The look she gave him was still tinged with grief, still with that spark of the druid. "What do you think Matthew? Do I look okay?"

"Stupid question, I know, I'm just worried."

"I know that, I just..." She averted her gaze from him, trying to distract herself with talking to Taliesin.

"Marisha." Matt called out to her, he needed to say something, anything, to make amends.

She looked back, her eyes now betraying a look of mild anger. "Yes? Why?"

Matt caught both messages. And now he knew exactly what to say. "C'mon, you know ya love me. Why the choice?"

Her expression barely shifted, "Mhm, I'll think about it. Yes."

The DM smiled warmly at her, responding purely to the unspoken word. "Because I know you. And I know for a fact that you're strong enough to make it."

Marisha's face softened, she could never resist those eyes or that smile and she knew that he was being sincere. A small sigh, "I love you too Matt."
