"It's only the biggest event of the year," Athena said as she linked arms with Mariah and I, walking into the ball. She had on this huge smile.

"For like middle schooler's of upper class children," Mariah said sarcastically as Athena stuck her tongue out at her.

"We're their big sister's, we're supposed to care!" Mariah laughed at Athena's over dramatics.

"It's a middle school cotillion Athena," I said and laughed but she gasped.

"I taught them how to fox trot and this is their going into adulthood!" We laughed at her as she groaned.

"Look, there's the boys," Mariah said and pointed across the beach venue to where the guys were. I felt my heart tug in confusion, there was Daniel. He was laughing with a kid, his "brother."

"You're singing tonight right Audrey?" They looked over at me and I nodded, smiling to be greeted by Carly, my little sister.

"Audrey! You look stunning," Carly said, playing with my dress a bit.

"I could say the same to you lady Carly," I said as I looked at the 13 year old with envy in her white dress.

"Are you ready to sing together?" Carly sings in her choir, taking solo's left and right.

"I think so, I hope I remember the words." She bit her lip, looking at the stage with the piano.

"Let's see your date." She smiled and looked around before pointing to the boy that was giving Daniel a high five.

"His name is Cody." A smile spread across her face as she watched him and Daniel.

"That's my boyfriend with him." She glared at me with her mouth gaped open.

"But you're not Serenity are you?" I shook my head.

"No no no. I'm Audrey Mickelson, Daniel's girlfriend." She looked confused.

"Melody is a liar then!" I looked at her confused now. 

"Who's Melody?" She pointed to a girl with brown hair and brown eyes.

"Serenity's sister. She thinks that she's the best at singing. She likes Cody. She said Serenity and Daniel went to a get away last weekend." I shook my head.

"He was with me." She nodded knowingly at me.

"Starting the line up," Athena whispered in my ear and I pushed Carly forward and stood behind her, across from Daniel and Cody. Daniel winked at me which caused me to blush.

"Carly Rose Soneclar escorted by Cody Cook," The dude announced as she grabbed his arm and they went to the dance floor. They danced for a bit until the announced our singing.

I sat by the piano and moved the microphone towards me as Carly grabbed a microphone. I gave her a small smile as everyone quieted down, I started playing the keys to Let It Rain by Bruno Mars as I sang by myself for the first part.

"You'll never be my mother's favorite. My daddy can't even look you in the eye," I sang, glaring at Daniel. Carly sang beautifully, pouring her soul into every word.

"Cause there'll be no sunlight, if I lose you baby. There'll be no clear skies, if I lose you baby," Carly sang, getting into the song at the end. I looked over at Serenity and Melody who were fuming with rage. Cody and Daniel gave us smiles and clapped before we went down to them.

"I have to talk to you Audrey," Daniel whispered into my ear. I nodded as he led me outside to the beach, a hand on my back, guiding me there.

"What's wrong Daniel," I ask and smile at him, he gave a small sad smile back.
