Chapter One

I wake up the next morning to my alarm going off. Oh the little things I do to keep myself somewhat humanized. I get up and shower and try to figure out what happened last night. But everytime I think of something, I draw blanks.

It just doesn’t make any sense to me. I mean I’ve been around for a few hundred years and that has never ever happened while I was feeding on someone. I get out the shower and throw on some trackies and a loose fit shirt. I walk down stairs and see my ‘guardian’ already up.

“Morning Liam.”

“Hey Louis.” I force a smile hoping he can’t sense my mood, but of course he can.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I just need to feed is all.”

“I thought you went last night?” He cocks an eyebrow at me and I sigh.

“I tried too... but couldn’t find anyone.” I shrug and toss my sneakers on.

“Alright. But remember the rules Liam...”

“Keep a 50 mile radius away from town and clean up after myself. I know Lou. I’m not a child.” I smirk and he shakes his head. “You want to join me?”

“No I’m fine. Unlike you I found someone last night.” Louis smiles proudly and I roll my eyes.

“Alright. See you later.” I walk out the door and begin my search.

It doesn’t take long. There was this girl. Maybe in her early twenties, walking alone. Like they always are. I approached her. Turned on my sweet eyes and lured her into an abandoned building. I guess she was expecting more because she started undressing.

It’s not that she wasn’t attractive. She was. Medium length red hair, blue eyes and a gorgeous smile. But I was far more hungry than horny. I made her death quick. I snapped her neck and then fed. I usually feed while they are still alive, but I have to get ready for school.

When finished I redressed her and set her body up so it looked like a murder. I shut her eyes and wiped my face off before exiting the building making sure no one was around. I took the rooftops to get back home and was there in no time. I gave Louis my classic grin and went back to my room to get dressed for my first day of school.

“You almost ready Li?” Louis calls from down the stairs and I sigh doing another look over.

“Yeah, yeah. Here I come.” We walk to his car and drive to school.

Okay so it’s a little cheesy, but we have to keep up the appearance. You see Louis is supposed to be my uncle. My parents ‘died’ in a fire when I was a baby and he adopted me. The whole parents dying thing is true. They did die in a fire back in 1795. I was around eighteen when they died. And then the whole vampire thing happened and somewhere between all of that and now I found Louis.

Well he found me. We move around a lot, since neither of us want to give up human blood. When the murder rates go up, we leave. It’s simple and works for us. I decided the town this time. And that’s how we ended up here. I turn to face Louis and see he’s already staring at me.

“So what happened last night?”

“I already told you.” I groan and he shakes his head.

“I know you were lying Liam. You’ve always been a shit liar. Even when I meet you a hundred years ago. So what happened. And the truth this time.” He speaks sternly and I sigh. I hate when he goes all serious on me.

“Have you ever fed on someone and their blood burn you?”

“What?” He looks at me with questionable eyes.

“Like their blood burns your throat and makes your body feel like it’s on fire.”

“No I haven’t. Is that what...” He tries to continue but I see we are already outside the school.

“Gotta go Lou.” I speak quick and hop out the car.

“We will talk about this later young man.” He speaks through the open window with a silly grin and I shake my head.

“It’s nothing Louis really. Maybe he had taken some drug beforehand and that’s why. I gotta go. I’ve already missed like two periods.”

“Oh like you care. You’ve been learning the same shit for how long now?” He laughs and so do I.

“Eh 50 years and counting.”

“Wow milestone! Congrats.” He smirks and I flip him off while I walk into the building.

Another high school. It’s always the same. Boring classes. Annoying teenagers. Ugly teachers. The usual. I find the receptionist and flash her a grin, making the older woman blush. She tries to compose herself quickly but fails by dropping her papers on the ground. She curses herself and I help her pick them up.

“Why thank you.”

“You’re welcome. Um my name is Liam Payne. I’m a new student here. Just transferred. And I need my schedule if you wouldn’t mind.” She nods quickly and walks back to her desk.

“Mr.Payne, here you go. We are in third period now, so you can just go straight there.”

“Thank you. You have a nice day.” I wink and she blushes again.

I swear humans are the easiest to flatter. A few compliments and you can have them wrapped around your finger. But that’s how I like them. I love the easy ones. They are a lot more fun. And when bad things happen, they never suspect me. I’m supposed to be the sweet Liam Payne. I laugh to myself and walk into class. It goes silent and the teacher looks up at me.

“You are late.” He scolds and I try my best not to roll my eyes.

“I’m the new student. Liam Payne. My uncle got lost trying to find the school.”

“Oh... Well then take your seat.” I turn from the teacher and take one step away from his cheap disgusting cologne and then I smell it.

I try to keep my composure, but fail when a pair of green eyes land on me. Harry. I look at him for a split second and try to hold my breath. Even though his blood caused me pain it still makes my mouth water. I want to taste him so bad.

I find a seat as far from his as possible but that doesn’t stop the smell from invading my nose.  I see Harry turn to face me but keep my eyes directed to the idiotic teacher that is speaking of the human anatomy. The bell rings and I dart out the class first. What have I gotten myself into?
