Maru The Provider

"Alright, if you trust him, I trust him," He replied to you, which brings a smile to your face seeing that he gave in. Maru doesn't seem too dangerous.

You and Taehyung wait patiently for Maru to come back with food, which he will soon. You can see Taehyung fidgeting from the corner of your eyes. You can tell he hates this idea, he did from the start, but he is taking it well... Kinda.

When Maru showed up with berries and leaves, Taehyung grabbed a stick that was near him and held it close. Maru dropped the berries and leaves on a tree stump that was in front of us.

"I am not eating that," Taehyung said looking at the berries. Maru tilted his head and sat down.

"Why not?"

"Because (Y/N) hallucinated from those, I don't want that to happen again," Taehyung replied. Maru just sniffed the berries, soon after he just shook his head.

"No, these aren't the same berries. The berries she ate are vinum berries, they are not good for humans," Maru said while chewing on a stick. That makes so much sense now. That was a creepy trip, but just imagine what it'd be like if you had more of those berries. Would it be worse?

"What are those then?" Taehyung asked, pointing at the berries.

"They're raspberries," Maru chuckled making Taehyung look like an idiot.

"I knew that..." Taehyung said as he looked away, crossing his arms.

"I suggest to wash it out in the stream before you eat it though,"

"Who said I was going to eat it?" Taehyung objected. Maru whimpered and lowered his head into his paws.

"I was only trying to be nice..." He said with his voice being muffled from his paws. You reached for the berries and leaves and walked over to the stream, but before you could, Taehyung grabbed a hold of your ankle.

"What are you doing? Do you want to trip again?" You shook your head.

"Just trust me," You said, which made him let go of you.

"Alright, your funeral," You nodded while walking over to the stream to rinse the food off.

The stream is colder than the pond. It also felt different, the pond felt thicker then this stream. Which felt nice, and the berries looked clean as well. So you got up and walked back over to them.

"Are you sure you're not a dog?" You heard Taehyung ask Maru as he was giving him a belly rub.

"I'm not a doggy!" Maru replied. You're surprised to see Taehyung be this close to him like this, when he was scared to get close to him. It's actually kind of cute.

Taehyung took his hand off his stomach, which made Maru roll over onto his paws. But then Taehyung pulled him into a headlock as Maru was nuzzling his head on Taehyungs sweatshirt. Taehyung clung to him blowing on Marus ear, Maru looked at him and Tae pretended that he wasn't doing anything.

"I know it's you!" Taehyung looked at him like he's gone crazy.

"what am I doing?"

"Don't act like you don't know!" They both giggled as Maru jumped on him playfully. Maru goes up to Taehungs shoulders as Tae is sitting down, so Maru is a big wolf...thing.

"I'm back!" You said walking back up to the tree stump after you were done watching them fool around. Maru got off him and pounced over to you as you set the berries and leaves down on the stump.

Before Taehyung could say anything, you popped one into your mouth and swallowed it. Maru is panting and he seems over happy.

"How did I do? Did I do good?" Maru said as you nodded while giggling.

"You did great!"

"Yay!" You giggled more as you petted him. As you were petting him, his little foot started to shake.

You grabbed a handful of Raspberries and held them out to Taehyung to try. He looked at them before he tried one, soon after he just gave you a bright smile.

"Delicious," He said which made Maru's tail wag all over the place, which was cute. He started to roll all over the ground as he started to giggle.

"Yay!" Maru yelled happily as you and Taehyung started to eat. The food didn't last long at all, it was pretty good.

"Well, we should get going," Taehyung suggested as Maru perked his head up.

"Where?" He asked. Suddenly, an idea popped into your head, he must be good at tracking, right?

"We are supposed to meet at a rock by tomorrow. Do you think you can help us?" You asked him, which he nodded instantly.

"Of course! Follow me!" Maru said while prancing off. You and Taehyung exchanged glances and chased after him with hope.

"Do you know where you're going?" Taehyung asked him.

"Yes! I can smell it! I can smell it!" Maru repeated himself happily. His happiness is contagious because you can't stop smiling, even in the scary place like this.

"How far is it?" You asked him.

"Far, it has a faint scent which means its far away."

You and Taehyung sigh a little bit. But hey, at least you guys are making it there. You guys will escape on time, you and Taehyung can have each other!

"It also smells like it's about to snow!" Maru yelled as you gave him a confused look.

"It's almost summer!" How can it snow? It's almost summer and it has been very humid lately. Suddenly, you see a white flake fall in front of your eyes, and a bunch starts to fall everywhere throughout the forest.

You felt a chill down your spine and you have formed goosebumps on your arms. You can hear Taehyungs teeth chatter from the coldness.

"Is it okay if we stop for a second..?" He asked Maru, who seemed to stop running and look at him.

"Oh yeah! I forgot you guys don't have a fur coat. I'll be right back..." Maru said prancing off. You and Taehyung just sit underneath a tree like you did last time. He held you close in his sweatshirt again.

"How is it snowing?" You asked fascinated by what you guys are witnessing.

"Remember, this forest is... Strange. You don't see pixies and talking dogs that turn into smoke every day," He replied which put a smile on your face.

His warm embrace surrounds you as you no longer feel cold, the warmness from his hands, the warmness from his arms, the warmness from his chest felt perfect. He is so soft it's amazing. His cheeks are rosy, probably from the cold, you assume.

Maru came back with black Interitum pelt and handed it to you two.

"Humans can't kill my kind, only creatures of the forest can..." You held onto the pelt and looked at him astounded.

"Did you kill some of your family... for us?"

"Well, I did it because I want you guys to be healthy!" He replied with a painful tone as you got off of Taehyung and wrapped the pelt around you. You sat down on the ground while you and Tae were leaning on each other.

"You didn't have to do that..." You said to Maru, which he just shook his head in disagreement and laid down by your feet.

"But I love you guys."
