****(Mitch's POV)****

"Hey Es, where's Scottie?" I asked Esther as she walked out of the bunk areas.

"I didn't see him but his curtain was closed. He seemed off after that phone call he had earlier." she said with a shrug and I nodded getting up off my spot on the couch next to Kirstie in the lounge.

"Yeah, I'm gonna go check on him." I said and walked over to the bunk area. I approached Scott's bunk and heard a sniffle from behind his curtain. I knocked on the wood outline of his bunk.

"Scottie? You okay?" I asked opening his curtain and peeking in. He was facing away from me but I could see his shoulders shaking as he cried.

I immediately crawled up into his bunk pushing him over a little bit before wrapping my arms around him. "Hey, it's okay. It's gonna be okay." I whispered in his ear trying to calm him down.

After a few seconds he rolled over to face me, his eyes red and cheeks wet from tears. He looked at me tears still falling down his cheeks, "How do I do this? How am I supposed to just be okay? How do I do this, Mitch?" he asked before letting out a loud sob.

I pulled him to me again rubbing circle in his back soothingly. I kissed his hair and repeatedly whispered, "I don't know honey, what's wrong baby? It's okay, it'll be okay."

After a few minutes of him sobbing in my shoulder repeatedly breaking my heart that I couldn't help him. "My mom... She was in a car accident... And she didn't... She didn't make it." he said in a shaky voice. My heart broke.

I put my hand over my mouth and my eyes too started to water. I just pulled him to me again and we both cried together. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." I whispered in his ear, "We're going to get through this okay? It's gonna be okay... We're gonna be okay."

"I just don't understand... Why did this happen to her? She didn't do anything." he sobbing in my chest.

"I don't know. I just don't know. Bad things happen to good people all the time but-" he cut me off pulling away.

"I don't want to deal with this." he said his voice almost a whisper, "I can't deal with this right now... I didn't even get to say goodbye because I've been on this stupid fucking tour bus in a different country. I haven't seen her in months and she-" his voice was cut off by a loud sob escaping his lips.

I brought him to me again and just rubbing his back and ran my fingers through his hair to calm him down. He slowly started to breath normally as I continued to run my fingers through his hair and kissing him on his hair every so often. Soon after his breath slowed enough so that i knew he had fallen asleep.

I kissed his forehead one last time before falling asleep alongside him.

I was awaken by Kirstie opening the curtain to Scott's bunk. I shifted at the sudden light but quickly realized the body latching on mine. "Did you sleep up here with him?" she asked confused.

"What does it look like?" I asked rubbing my eyes. "He had a rough night, I'll wake him up." I said and she nodded confused.

"He okay?" she asked and I looked at her.

"I don't know... but he will be, " I whispered with a sad smile on my face. She nodded and left me to wake him up.

I grabbed my phone out of my pocket to see that it was almost 3 and sound check was at 4. I lightly shook scott and kissed him on the forehead a few times to wake him up. He slowly opened his eyes and looked up at me.
