Mitch tapped his fingers on the steering wheel and hummed softly to the song playing on the radio as he drove to visit his dad.

He pulled into the parking lot and grabbed the two coffees. His dad hated the coffee at the home he was in so now whenever Mitch visited he always brought him coffee.

He walked in and started to sign in. "Good morning Mitch. Back in town, yeah?" The front desk lady, Shelly asked him and he smiled.

"Yep. We're on our way to Europe in the next few days though." He said, his voice mixed with excitement and disappointment.

"It's truly amazing what you do, Mitch." She said smiling before frowning slightly. "Listen, your father." She said and Mitch's breath hitched.

"Is he okay? No one called me." He said slightly panicked and she chuckled sadly shaking her head.

"No, no sweetie. He just...he's not doing so well anymore. He can't walk around anymore and he's very weak and always dizzy." She informed him and Mitch nodded slowly.

"Okay thank you for telling me." He said and was quick to go see his father. Ever since his father had gotten the tumor in his brain Mitch always knew that he was never going to come back from it. He was lucky his dad was even still there after three years.

Mitch entered the room and his father's face lit up slightly but he could tell his father was confused and didn't quite know exactly who Mitch was. Mitch smiled through the obvious pain he felt as he saw the confusion.

"Hey dad." He said loud enough so that he could hear him. His father's face contorted with realization before he smiled widely.

"My son." He said his voice scratchy, "Hello my son." Mitch smiled and grabbed his hand.

"Hey dad, how are you doing?" He asked and Mike shrugged rolling his eyes.

"Good enough to leave this hell hole." He said loud enough for his nurse who was passing by could hear. The nurse poked her head in chuckling.

"You love us and you know it." She said before returning to work. Mitch chuckled and looked down at his sick father.

"So..." he father started but seemed to forget what he was about to say. His eyes lit up a second later as he remembered and he looked up at his son, "Where's... the blonde... he... tall?" He father couldn't remember his best friends name and Mitch's heart ached.

"Scott?" Mitch offered with a smile and his father smiled clapping his hands.

"Yes! Are you guys finally together or what?" He asked and Mitch thought a second before coming up with an answer.

"Yes, we're together dad." He said almost instantly feeling guilty for lying to him. His father's face lit up though so it was worth it.

"I'm happy for you son. It was so obvious that you two would end up together when you guys were younger. I'm sorry but I don't think I'll be here for the wedding but-" Mitch cut him off shaking his head.

"Dad. don't say things like that." Mitch said looking down.

"I'm just being realistic. I'm not going to meet your kids, walk you down the aisle, or even see you two get married. I won't-" Mitch cut him off covering his face with his hands.

"Please stop." He said quietly and wiped some tears that fell. "Just... you're still here so why don't we focus on that." He whispered.

Mitch drove home listening to very loud music but this time he wasn't singing along. He cried hard the entire way home and didn't stop when he pulling into their driveway.

The tears slowed as he unlocked the door. He closed the door behind him and leaned his back on the door. He covered his face with his hands and took a deep breath.

"Mitchy?" He heard a voice coming down the stairs towards him. Mitch straightened and wiped his tears quickly. He sniffled and through his keys on the counter.

"Yeah." He said weakly as he entered the kitchen. Scott walked in behind him and could immediately tell something was wrong.

"How's your dad?" He asked cautiously and Mitch leaned against the counter facing away from him.

"He-" his voice cracked and he covered his face with his hands again, "He's forgetting things and he cant walk anymore and he's ready to die! He's fucking ready! What if I'm not fucking ready?!" Scott rushed over to him and wrapped his arms around his waist.

"Shh, shh. Its okay baby, breath." he whispered into Mitch's ear. Mitch turned around in his hold and buried his face in his chest.

"He's not going to be able to walk me down the aisle when I get married, he's not going to meet my children, he's not going to see them grow up and get married. He's gonna miss all of that and I don't want that!" he sobbed pulling away to look up at Scott.

"I want him to be there! I want him to calm my nerves at my wedding and tell me I'm not making a mistake and I want him to fucking walk me down that aisle and give me away! I wanna come home to someone after touring around the world! I just... want him to stay with me..."

Scott rubbed Mitch's back and pressed his lips to his forehead calming him down. "I know baby." He whispered not quite knowing what exactly to do to make Mitch feel better.

Mitch calmed down slightly and looked up at Scott, "I lied to him today." He whispered and Scott furrowed his eyebrows.

"Every single time I visit him he asks me if we had started dating yet and this time when he asked me I just told him yes. And holy shit it made him so happy. He told me he always knew." Mitch chuckled wiping his tears. "I know I shouldn't have lied like that but if he's not going to live much longer than he might as well die thinking I was dating you like he always hoped would happen."

Scott chucked and moved a strand of hair out of Mitch's way. "I always hoped too." He whispered and Mitch looked up not believing his ears.

"What?" He asked and Scott blushed shaking his head.

"No, no. It's stupid." He whispered and Mitch continued to stare at him.

"Do you like me?" Scott blushed and bit his lip.

"I mean of course I do. I've liked you since high school. I just didn't say anything cus I-" Mitch cut him off pressing his lips against Scott's passionately.

Scott was at first surprised but quickly relaxed into it and wrapped his arms around Mitch's waist. They pulled away seconds later and pressed their foreheads together.

"Well now at least you're not lying to your dad." Scott whispered before pulling Mitch into another kiss.
