April Alexis Alsina: Friday 1st June:

I walked outside the building that I'd just completed my culinary class in and walked towards my black BMW X5 car; I would've gone for the X6 but since I'd purchased it own my own, I had to settle for what I could afford. It isn't long until I graduate up out of Culinary School in a month and I honestly can't wait to get started in the world.

I'd started applying for better paying chef jobs a month prior, now that I'm due to have a degree, experience and full knowledge on the topic. I always thought that Culinary School would be about the food mainly; but apparently there's more to it that you need to know in order to graduate.

I secured my lunch boxes which contained left overs of todays task which was to do with Soul Food. As I slid into my car, my phone in my back pocket vibrated. I lifted my lower abdomen up and slid my phone out my pocket, checking the caller ID before answering it.

"Babe!" Devin called through the phone and I held my phone up to my ear using my shoulder as I started my car.

"Hey baby, what's up?" I asked.

"You' coming to my dorm? I'm bored as hell and don't have any classes today, so come through." He said, although it sounded like more of an order that a question.

I sucked my teeth as I was stopped by a red light, "I've got to drop by my poppas place first. I'm pretty sure he's been lonely by himself and since there's nobody left in his house to cater for him..."

"Aight, what'd you make today? You said you was doing soul food right?"

"I packed you a lunch box too, don't front. I wasn't going to leave you hungry, baby." I said with we chuckled lightly.

"Shit, I-" His sentence was cut off by my phone ringing. I pulled my phone into my free hand to check who was calling and my car jolted once I'd seen the name pop up on the screen.

I pulled my phone back to my ear and rushed with my words, "Babe, imma have to call you back. Oceanic is calling, probably about my job application."

"Aight, good luck." He said before I ended the phone call on him and hurried to answer the restaurants call.

"Hello?" I called into the phone, placing it on speaker and then lying it on my lap.

"Hi April, it's Harmello calling..." This was the same guy who interviewed me. He owned the fanciest restaurant uptown and I've been dying to receive a job there as a chef.

"Hi, how are you?" I asked, attempting to keep my cool. I said a silent and snappy prayer to myself, just hoping that he'd called with good news.

"I'm good thanks, I actually called with great news-" I turned a corner with a grin on my face as I waited for him to carry on.

"So, we were going through all the job applications and running through all the interviews, and your application seemed to stand out a lot. It didn't take much thinking April, and after we saw how you worked in the test-run for the kitchen, we've decided that we're giving you the job-"

I squealed interrupting his sentence but quickly stopped to compose myself.

He chuckled lightly through the other end of the phone as I thanked him.
