Devin Hull: Sunday 3rd June:
Things have been going pretty smoothly for me. I'm due to complete my business, tech and engineering courses in college and soon graduate with my class.
April and I were driving to the house that we'd recently purchased together since we'd received the keys and we were just about ready to move in. We only decided to come down to the house, which is still in New Orleans, to check the area out; figure out what we want to happen with it, etc.
I can honestly say that April and I are a strong unit and we have been over the past 4 years. Of course, we've fallen out, been sick of each other, had petty arguments just like any relationship. But I truly love her; and that's me speaking as a real nigga.
We had to bare a lot of things when house hunting; like the fact that it had to be near both of our work places, and eventually, later in life, we'd like to start a family. And moving from house to house is something that neither of us rock with, we'd rather stay in one house for the long run.
We pulled up to the flawless 2 storey house, 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms to accompany them. It was freshly decorated as we'd requested with white and red brick. We also got my old neighbor from beside my parents place to fix up the front and backyard greenery since it's something that his company specialized in.
April beamed as she slipped out the car and I followed after locking the vehicle behind me.
My parents and April's father input a bit of cash as a graduation present to appreciate and honor how far we've come. But, for the most part, April and I did this ourselves.
She unlocked the door with her set of keys and we walked in. Some furniture that we'd already purchased was already in the house but there was still a lot to be done.
"Do you know if they're going to come and fix up the bed?" April asked and I nodded.
"The one in our room? They already did that when they brought the pieces. It was free of charge for 'em to do that." I said and she nodded with a smile.
"I still can't get over this kitchen!" She said with a smile which flashed her pearly whites.
"You was so persistent that we found a good kitchen." I tutted, "I ain't see the point 'cause you finna be owning your own kitchen soon." I shrugged with a smirk.
"If it's in God's plan." She said and she scrunched up her nose as she looked towards me, "Did you really sprinkle 'holy water' around the house?" She asked, scanning the droplets which still hadn't dried up from my visit to the house last night.
"Look, I told you this shit already. I watched too many scary movies in my time and I'on even fuck with spirits and shit! All the scary movies I seen are about a family moving into a new house then shit goes downhill from there. Spirits don't fuck with holy water so we good." I said exhaling as I looked around our half empty house.
