Devin Hulls: Sunday 2nd December:
"Nah, but forreal, think about it this way. Who really wants to go through their pregnancy with neither their mother nor their father around?" I asked Tyrone who sat across from me in the main room of his mansion as he drew the blunt from his lips and exhaled to speak.
"I see you. But a lot of people don't got their parent's around. I mean, I would've liked to have my mother and father at my first pro-game, but it wasn't in God's plan. My father had 'other plans', meaning his other family on the side, and my mother was a dead-beat. So, I understand how April's gotten used to it." He said shrugging and I exhaled.
"But, Ty, it's like-"
"Devin, calm down a second. I understand that you' concerned and shit over your girl and that's perfectly fine, but there really ain't nothing that you can do to bring either her mom or dad back. I'm just tryna be straight with you as your home boy, but do you get what I'm sayin'?" He asked and I nodded slowly.
"You one of those lucky black kids, you know?" He asked and I chuckled lightly, inhaling my blunt. "Ain't too many of us who had parents who got the tightest bond, got married, had a kid and carried on living happily ever after."
"But you sayin' that like I'm the only nigga with a nuclear family." I said shaking my head lightly.
"Only nigga I know. But it's straight though, I mean, messed up relationships, hoeism and dead-beats run in my family. You know I even had to ask my niece who her daddy was 'cause I couldn't keep up with all the niggas my sister done fucked with? And bare in mind, my niece is 4 years old and she started crying after I asked that simple ass question." Tyrone said tutting with a chuckle. I rose an eyebrow at him and shook my head.
"Look man, for future references, don't bust a nut in any woman. I'on think you'd be able to deal with the after-math." I said as we chuckled and both went ahead to inhale from our blunts.
After a while of silence, I'd gotten over the topic but Tyrone, who was still enduring his high-talk, began to rant on relationships.
"Nah but I would actually like something real. You know, something that's real and lasts long... like what you and April got. I want that type of relationship." He said, nodding in pleasure of his own statement, I remained silent for a second since he looked like he was slipping right into his feelings.
"You' cool man?" I asked, after a second and he nodded quickly.
"You know what you need to do?..." I trailed off and he looked up in confusion whilst taking a quick ass hit.
"You need... to move on." I stated. I don't know if anybody has actually said those five words to him recently, but it sure is what he needs to hear.
"I mean, who really spends all their time mourning over a heart that was broken five fucking years ago my nigga? I'm just being real here 'cause I'm real worried for you man. I think it's time you tried to find someone new." I said shrugging as I took a hit from my blunt.
"You know what..." he paused, "You right. But where I'm 'posed to find a real ride or die chick?"
"I'on know, maybe you can ask the girls to set you up with one or their friends. Or go to a wedding... or to church... or to a mixer, not a club, a mixer,... or stuff like that." I said shrugging.
"And here's a tip, don't date no neighbor or co-worker, 'cause if shit don't work out between y'all it ain't no avoiding they' asses." I said and he nodded.
"You think if I ask April or Royalty to set me up they gone' do it?" He asked and I nodded.
"They'd do anything to get you out your feelings about Princess... well... not anything... but you feel me." I said and we chuckled.
