April Alexis Alsina:
My dad's grin failed to fade away as he stared at my bump.
"You' really pregnant... damn." He said with a smile as he finally looked up at me.
"Yeah, I'm glad you're happy about it." I said breathlessly, adjusting the phone to my ear as I looked towards my father through the clear glass. He looked skinnier than before and unfed and I hated it.
"'Course imma be happy about it. Plus, you're the first person that's come to see me." He said with a smile and I nodded slowly.
"How are you holding up in there?" I asked, looking behind him at the police guard who watched us converse.
"... I'm living. But how's things out thea'?" He asked.
"They've been pretty hard. I found out some news that made me want to kill somebody in particular recently," I said breathlessly. I wasn't about to hold back from my father about what Princess had told me.
"Really what is it? You know you can't be stressing so much whilst you're pregnant, right." He asked and I nodded.
"It's Princess. She wrote us all apology letters and in mine she confessed a lot of things--"
"Things like what?" He asked, adjusting the phone to his ear and leaning forwards.
"She wrote how... how my mom didn't die from cancer..." I trailed off and looked down for a second to calm myself.
"What?!" He asked, his eyebrows intwining with one another.
"She said that Lira poisoned her food on the night we arrived here. She said it was because of Lira's jealousy and hatred towards my mom. And she said that she helped her and she didn't even regret killing my mom, she only regretted not confessing earlier. She's sick in her fucking head dad! They both are! They kept that news from us for all these years poppa... they killed my momma!" I moaned, a single tear dropping down my cheek.
He dropped the phone and cradled his face in his hands, his breathing grew heavy and tears were dripping down onto the counter where his elbows rested.
I knew he'd be just as hurt as I was. He must've felt like being the middle man in the situation meant it was all his fault. I wanted to hug him and I wanted to cry with him, but what was the use with us having to communicate through telephones from behind this thick window.
He slammed his fist onto the concrete counter as tears streamed down his face.
"I can't believe this shit!" He cried.
We sat in silence for a while before he picked the phone back up.
"April, I need you and your brothers to take this to court. I need you to testify against both Lira... and Princess. Ya' heard? Get it dealt with before shit get's worse Ape." He said looking me directly in the eye.
For a second, I couldn't fathom the words I was hearing him say. I couldn't believe that he wanted to put his Princess in jail. Although she deserved it, I just never honestly expected him to say that.
I nodded slowly, hearing him exhale through the other end of the phone.
"I can't believe this..." He muttered under his breath as he stared at the gray concrete.
