August Anthony Alsina: Saturday 9th June:
Being a lonesome man at 41 years old in this huge home of mine can be upsetting and also drive me a little on the mentally challenged side. I find myself either writing song lyrics that I'll never put to a track, talking to myself or just smoking the day away.
I mean, of course, I regularly have friends over or whatever but those few hours will never compare to the hundreds of days that I used to spend day in, day out with my crazy ass family.
Not even the industry can fill the lonely void in me. It's deep, but true.
That's the primary reason that I chose to bring everybody together again. I'm hosting a strictly family cook-out and since God is on my side, almost all of the family are attending-- almost. There's a lot to celebrate though. I mean, April's one step away from graduating, Adrian's finally come back from his first performance tour around America and Canada...
I've tried to contact my 'stray' daughter about it; but instead her phone was answered by an old-sounding man who claimed that the phone was his. It honestly worries me not knowing how she's doing or where she's at, or if she's even still in the country.
Plus, now that she's 22 years old, of she is to get into any legal situations, how am I to know?
I placed a plastic bag that was filled with fresh seasonings on my counter. Usually when we had cook-outs or big get-togethers, everybody was assigned a type of meat to bring for us to cook and feast on.
The doorbell rang as I was in the middle of shuffling through my purchased bottles of seasoning. I frowned a little since it couldn't have been any of my family at the door. They aren't that respectful to just ring my doorbell once; they've got to somehow make it known that it's them specifically behind the door. Whether that's drumming on my front door, screaming for me to open the door because 'it's too cold' or they're carrying heavy bags or they are glaring back at me through the peephole.
I stopped and walked towards the front door, a smile edging on my face as I peeped through the peep-hole.
I swung the door open and smiled lightly.
"Hi Mr Alsina," Miley said with a light smile as I hugged her."How are you doing Miley?" I asked, I couldn't help but notice that she was a little down in the dumps and as if the smile she gave me was feigned.
"I'm fine thanks,"
She placed a plastic bag in front of the door in order to keep it open as she looked back at Adrian who was a large back of potatoes as he yelled;"Yo poppa! Guess who's back in the New-O'." He said chuckling as he placed the potatoes down and I pulled him in for a hearty hug.
"There's that lil' prodigy! Aye, yo' bougie ass came back days ago and I'm only seeing you now? Fuck outta hea'." I said, pretending to shut the door on him as he barged his way in.
"Well, I'm hea' now. Be grateful!" He said with a grin as he retrieved the potatoes and walked in with them and Miley following behind him.
As I was about to walk away from the door, a loud screech was heard from outside.
"Don't shut that front door yet!" My head whipped around as the front gates opened. I knew that had to be the Reeds and my grandma and grandad; Papaw Vincent and Nana Haley.
My mom along with my triplets were the only people with keys to my home so as they drove their vehicle up to the marble steps and parked right there; ignoring the car lot, I ended up putting a door-step on the door and waiting for them to file out the car.
