when i came back home, nate was nowhere to be seen.
"nate!" i call to see if he was around somewhere. i slightly frown when theres no reply. yeah i know i told him to leave, but.... never mind. i set my keys down and realize i'm alone in the empty house again. i close my eyes and take deep breathes, trying to get myself under control again.
i reopen my eyes and look to my left. nate left his hat. i frown as i pick it up. i sigh, i'm visiting my dad at the end of the week so i guess i'll just drop it off to him then.
i place his hat in a spot where it was hidden but where i wouldn't forget it as i made a call to shawn asking him to come over.

when friday came, i flew back to cali to visit dad and bryan like i usually do. i made promises to call shawn everyday before i left which was also something i usually do. i took an uber to nate's house so i can give him his stupid hat and hopefully go back to avoiding him.
i say my driver and walk up the porch to nate's house. i reach for the doorknob and push open the door. i wince and curse myself for still being used to just walking in-- even after three years.
i slowly walk in, clutching the snapback in my hand tightly. everything still looks the same in here, i smile thinking back to all the good times i had here with the boys.
"mia?" i hear someone say, making me stop in tracks.
my eyes widen, "k-kaitlyn..." i stutter. here she is.... wearing no pants.... just a shirt.
a smirk comes to her face as she crosses her arms across her chest. "it's been awhile hasn't it?"
"i, uh- i had to bring nate his hat back." i stammer, quickly holding the snapback up.
"a long way just for a hat hm?" she raised her perfectly arched eyebrow, her plump lips still pulled into a smirk.
"i came for a visit." i say as i quickly push the hat in her hands.
"aye kaitlyn-" i hear the masculine voice that can along belong to one person. he comes out shirtless, "i need my- mia." he eyes settle on me. "what are you doing here?"
"you left your hat and i came to return it." i frown, "but it looks like you're busy so i'm just gonna go."
"mia wait!" i hear him call but i ignore him, pushing out the door.
i walk so fast i don't even notice myself bump into someone walking up.
"woah- mia?"
"johnson?" my face lights up and i through my arms around him. i smile when i see who's behind him also. "sammy!" i let go of johnson to hug him.
"hey, miss america." he smirks and hugs me back.
i roll my eyes at the stupid nickname.
"what're you doing here?" johnson asks.
"yeah, don't you go to yale or something?" sammy adds in.
i nod. "i'm here for the weekend and i had to return something back to nate."
the boys nodded.
"well it was really good seeing you again mia." johnson smiles at me. "we should really catch up."
"we should." i smile as i nod. "well i'm gonna get going. i'll see you guys around." i quickly dismiss myself, quickly racing back to my uber.

nate's pov
i curse when mia runs away. i look over at kaitlyn and groan.
"what did you say to her?" i groaned.
"nothing!" she raised her hands up in defense.
i look her up and down, taking in her appearance. "and you couldn't have put on fucking pants?"
kaitlyn scoffed, "i do and wear what i want."
i groan again and run my fingers through my hair, shaking my head. this girl i swear...
"what's going on here?" johnson chuckles as he walks in, sammy trailing behind him.
"sammy's fucking girlfriend keeps ruining shit." i spat.
"aye watch it." sam warns, walking up to kaitlyn, giving her a kiss on the lips. the sight of them makes me want to gag.
"it's not my fault your girlfriend doesn't know how to fucking knock." she spits back and i dismiss her, going back into my room.
