i so happy to be home, but when i got there dad wasn't so i figured he was out running errands. it always felt good to come home, even though the memories here aren't the best, it's still home.
"hey," bryan said when he almost walked past my door. "i didn't know you were coming back." he leaned in for a hug.
i grinned and wrapped my arms around him. bryan was a giant compared to me, he always has been anyway. "i missed you big bro." i said when i pulled away. his smile matched mine. my smile then dropped and i quickly kicked him in the shin.
"what the fuck mia?!" he winced, grabbing his leg in pain.
"why the hell did you give nate my address?" i bark.
"he wanted to see you." bryan explained, rubbing his aching leg.
"so? what if i didn't want to see him? you at least could've called."
"look," bryan stood back up, "the dude wanted to see you. he misses you."
"i have a boyfriend and you know that." i cross my arms across my chest.
bryan rolls his eyes. "that pansy?" he scoffs. "dad is the only one that like that loser."
this was true. bryan didn't like shawn one bit when i brought him home one thanksgiving dinner one year. he said he voice was too high and he annoyed him the whole night; dad on the other hand thought he was a delight, a perfect match for his baby girl.
"doesn't matter bryan, nate showing up almost ruined my relationship." i cry. "you can't just do that."
"well i'm sorry?" he shrugged. "happy mia joyce?"
i roll my eyes and usher him out my room when i hear my phone ding from my back pocket. i close the door and take my phone out reading the screen: nate. i take a deep breath before answering.
nate
hey
hi.
whats up?
just getting home.
can we meet up somewhere i need to talk to you
you do know you can call people right? thats what phones were made for.
i rather see you
i'll take every chance i can to see that beautiful face.
my breath hitched when i read the last text. before i reply and blank screen popped up and nate's name displayed on the top of my screen. i tapped the green icon, holding my phone to my ear.
"now was that so hard?" i say.
he chuckles, "i rather see you then hear your voice."
i bit my lip, not knowing how to reply.
"look so um, about kaitlyn-"
"it's fine, nate." i stop him. "it's been a while. we're over, it's your life-"
"i'm not sleeping with her mia." he interrupts me.
"oh?"
"she's sammy's girl." he says.
i furrow my eyebrows. "wait what happened to sam and that stass girl?"
"they broke up a while back, but i bet they'll be back with each other within the week. sammy still stalks her instagram." he chuckles, making me laugh too. "don't laugh, i still stalk yours too."
my heart pinches together and my eyes go wide. "why?" i choke out. "i don't post that much." i say trying to sound normal as possible.
"like i said, i want to see your face every chance i get." he replies smoothly.
the beating of my heart gets faster as i am stuck not knowing what to say. "i- i have to call shawn." i rush out, quickly ending the call.
nate won't give up on and it's really making me question: what do i want?
