shawn dropped me back off at home when my shift was over, thankfully is wasn't as long as yesterday and i had time to do my homework. when we pull up i see no sign of nate. i guess he left. shawn looks pleased but doesnt say anything.
"i'll call you tonight." i lean across the console and kiss his cheek.
"ok, babe."
i say goodbye and get out his car, watching him drive off. i sigh and walk inside my house. "nate?" i call, just to see if he's here. i slightly frown when theres no reply. i sit my stuff down and look in the fridge, i really need to go grocery shopping tomorrow.
"woah, look what we have here." i scream and turn around quickly seeing nate with a huge smile on his face.
"nathan!" i gasp, "what the hell?!" i tried to calm my beating heart.
"damn, i'm like this uniform." he smirks at me, looking me up and down at my waitress uniform.
"it's for work." i roll my eyes. "i thought you left."
"nah i went to go grab food." he said holding up a chick fa la bag, "you don't have shit here."
i narrow my eyes, "i know."
"i got you too food, lil mama." he smiled, taking out the food.
"what'd ya get me?" i ask, strolling over to him.
"what do you always get?" he playfully challenged me, pulling out the spicy chicken sandwich.
"oh you know me so well." i smiled from ear to ear.
"i was in love with you," he stared at me. "how could i not?"
i scrunch my lips up and ignore his question, digging into the bag. "did you get the sauce?"
"i always got the sauce baby." he smirked me.
i rolled my eyes but smiled. i truly did miss nate and we were talking like we've been together for years. i frown at the time we lost but it had to be done. he wasn't over mary jane and he needed time and i had to give it to him.
"what're you thinking about?" nate asked, taking a bite out of his own sandwich.
"nothing." i shake my head.
"mia." he tilted his head down, not believing me.
i sigh, "how are you nate?"
he shrugged, "i'm good. how are you?" he didn't get what i was asking.
i roll my eyes slightly, "not like that. how are you?" i repeated, hinting what i was trying to get at.
nate furrowed his eyebrows then his mouth formed an 'o' shape. "oh, um, yanno... i've been okay. kinda tough but i'm pulling through." he nodded.
"and with mary jane?" i ask slowly making sure i don't hit a weak spot.
"mia, i've been over her." he eyed me. "it's been almost five years." i frown, looking down at my shoes. "but i'm not over you and it's been almost four."
i sigh, pushing my hair back. "nate, i have a boyfriend and you know that."
nate scoffed, "that twink? i can take him anyway."
i narrow my eyes, "he's really sweet nate and he cares about me."
nate shrugs, eating one of his fries. "whatever."
"i'm going to get ready for bed," i tell him excusing myself from the awkwardness that was just created.

i avoided nate the rest if the night and finished up my homework which went into the late hours of the night, i felt myself falling asleep on my desk. i wasn't fully asleep but i felt someone lift me up and my body touched the warm comfort of the sheets. my eyes were too tired to open them and see who it was.
"night princess." i hear and then i feel a pair of lips kiss my forehead before i finally fall asleep.
