Rhydian watched Jana deal with Demetra and Bryn. Telling them what they did was irresponsible, childish, stupid, nothing that teenagers really care about.
Rhydian watched Maddy as she sat alone on the grass playing with a ladybug on her finger. He wanted to go up and tell her that he missed her, hearing her jokes and funny personality, and everything her loved about her. But obviously that would sound weird, espeacially since she didn't remember anything about him.
But still he got up and walked overto her and stood behind her. He cleared his throat and she jumped, which caused the ladybug to fly away. She watched it go with disappiontment.
She turned around. ''What?'' she growled.
Rhydian swallowed, ''Uh... I just wanted to ask you if you have any memeory from your past?''
Maddy huffed and stood up. ''Why do you care so much about me life, instead of your own brother's?!''
Rhydian stared into her sparkling brown eyes. They reminded him of the soft dirt back at Stoney Bridge, and how he loved that her hair looked calm and warm just like his favourite brownies at Bernie's...
Stop it! he demanded to his brain.
He looked behind him, unable to look her in the eye of what he was about to say, ''I need to talk to you,'' he said ''it's important.''
Maddy rolled her eyes. ''Fine, since I don't have anything else better to do than have a private conversation with a jerk.''
Ouch, that hurt. Rhydian thought.
They walked to a tree towards the end of the campsite and stood face-to-face.
Rhydian inhaled, ''This is so weird,'' he told himself.
Maddy arched her eyebrows, ''How?''
Rhydian realized he must have said that out loud. He took in a breath, ''Okay, I might as well tell you the truth. Look Maddy, we've met before. Four years ago. We became great friends and had lots of experiences. I had finally felt like I had a family when I was with you. We had crazy little adventures, and alot of fun back at home. Then.. .'' he trailed off.
Maddy raised her eyebrows, ''Then what?''
Rhydian felt tears rolling down his cheeks and he ran back to the pack, not being able to take the pain.

Maddy watched Rhydian run back towards camp. He seemed to be hiding something from her. It had to do something with their past, since he started crying. How important was it? She sighed and walked back.
When she came back, she saw Rhydian hugging Ceri and Bryn. Maddy walked to her parents, ''Mam, Dad,'' she said, ''I think Rhydian is hiding something from me. He started talking about our past... then he started crying and just ran off.''
Her parents looked at each other. Her dad shook his head warningly at her mum. ''Madeline,'' Mrs. Smith said, ''It's better if you talk about stuff like that to him only.''
Maddy nodded in disappiontment and walked away from her parents and sat back down on the grass. This time, she picked up a rolly polly and put it in her palm.

Jana looked back and forth between Maddy and Rhydian. She had watched them talk at the edge of the campsite, and saw Rhydian run away from her after a while.
Jana walked up to Rhydian after he finished talking to his family.
''You do know you have to tell her as much of her past as possible.'' Jana pointed out.
Rhydian eyes turned red and his voice was shakey as if trying to get rid of the fact that he was crying.
''I can't'' he breathed, ''I talked to her, but I remembered eveything, and she didn't remember it at all. I just made myself feel worse, I should have never come.'' And he walked away towards Bryn's hut. Jana couldn't stand to see him like that. So heartbroken and devastated. He should have never found out about Maddy.
Jana walked up to Maddy who appeared to have a rolly polly in her hand.
''Maddy,'' Jana said and Maddy turned around, ''Look, I can't explain but I want you to spend as much time as you can with Rhydian''
Maddy nodded, which surprised Jana. Maddy got up and walked over to Rhydian.

Maddy walked over to Rhydian, who was sitting near a woven hut. He looked up at her and his face was wet with tears. He looked back down right away.
Maddy sat in front of him. ''Sorry I slapped you,''
Rhydian gave a weak smile but didn't look up at her. Maddy took a deep breath, ''Rhydian, I want you to tell me everything about our past.''
He looked up at her and his lips parted in surprise. Then he started a long story.
