Demetra raised her eyebrows, ''Yeah?'' She asked.
Rhydian took a deep breath, ''I...I can't go with you''
Demetra didn't react to hus answer. In fact, she looked like she didn't care whether or not he said yes or no.
''I knew you would say that.'' She hopped back up the tree, folded the woven tent, and jumped back down. ''But I'm leaving anyway, so don't bother following.'' And she with that, sh ran deep into the woods.
Rhydian watched her leave and turned around and ran back to his house. He wanted to go, badly. But he had to think of his life in Stoneybrigde. He was abput to start a new chapter in his life, and he just couldn't give up everything, even to see Maddy.
Once he arrived Shannon was still by his front door, but Tom was just walking up the porch.
Tom sighed, ''I don't think they're home Shann,''
Shannon sighed as well, ''I just wanted to give him something, and besides, we should probably pack up for our search and-'' she looked past Tom's shoulder and noticed Rhydian.
''Rhydian!" She called, "Do you want to start searching tomorrow?''
Rhydian stared at Shannon, ''I thought you guys wanted to wait a few days?''
''Yeah but, my family isn't doing much,'' Shannon replied.
''Mine either,'' Tom added.
Rhydian then remembered what Demetra said about humans not being able to survive in the wild. Also, how would the pack react if he did bring Tom and Shannon with him? Would they slow him down?
''Yeah, cool.'' Rhydian said and managed a fake smile.
********************************
That night Rhydian kept tossing and turning. He still wasn't sure if he made the right decision. But it didn't matter, there hasn't been a cure for Amnesia yet, so what was the whole point of seeing her?
But the thought still bugged him. Would he ever see his Maddy again? What if this was his only chance and he didn't take it?
Soon he was tossing and turning so much, he could feel himself beginning to wolf out.
He got up, opened his window, and ran out towards the woods.
He was glad the running calmed him down. He continued to running to try and clear his mind off of things until he grew tired.
He sat down next to a tree and tried to catch his breath. When he began breathing through his nose again, he realized he was sitting by Demetra's tree. He got up and began to climb it. When he reached the top, he looked around the woods. It seemed so lonely and dark than usual. There were no sounds to be heard besides the soft breeze blowing against the leaves of the trees and an owl in the distance.
Then a cold gust came and the tree's leaves rustled as if in agony.
Something flew out from inside a gap in the tree and Rhydian caught it before it flew away. He opened it up and saw some familiar handwriting.
It has been four years to the day since I left the human world, leaving all my friends and our territory Rhydian. I miss Tom and Shannon, but I miss Rhydian most of all. I can't stop thinking about him and I wonder if he's forgotten me. I cried almost every night, yearning to go home and see him again, but he's probably got a girlfriend and has moved on. I still love him. I still remember the first thing I ever said to him : You smell like my parents. I never thought I would love him at all, but I think it was meant to be. I miss him so much, it's killing me.
Maddy
Rhydian choked up, and almost burst into tears. He had to see her. She may have Amnesia, but that doesn't mean he can just forget about the Maddy he once knew. She needed him. And he needed her.
Rhydian jumped down the tree and ran. But which way?
So do you think Rhydian ran into the woods, or back home? Post it below and please vote, follow, comment and share!
