Chapter 21

Ok, so here is the next chapter, so please stop bugging me about it. Please remember that I have a life outside of the internet so PLEASE PLEASE be patient! I won't be able to update every day, so can the people who keep sending me annoying messages every five minutes asking me when i'm going to update (thery're not my followers), please stop.

Chapter twenty one: new members

The pack flashed their eyes and growled at Tom and Shannon as they approached nervously. Jana pushed herself to the front, ''What are you two doing here?''

Shannon took a shakey breath,'' Dr. Whitewood is coming for all of you, right now. But Tom and I know a place to keep you safe.''

The pack kept growling at them, but Jana settled them down, ''Where?''

Tom stepped forward, ''It's a bit hard to explian but we don't have time. Dr. Whitewood is in the forest right now so we have to hurry up!''

Rhydian and Maddy looked at each other and grabbed each other's hand, ''We'll do it.'' Maddy said.

Everyone's eyes turned to her. Then they looked at Jana who nodded.

''Great!'' Tom said, ''Since we don't have enough room for all of you, we'll carrying your stuff and the little kids in the van.''

The pack unwillingly handed over their stuff, and all the tiny cubs. Tom and Shannon put the stuff away and hopped into the car. ''Follow us,''

They started the car and drove of into the west side of the forest. The pack followed.

Maddy ran beside Rhydian the whole time. Tom and Shannon seemed very different since she last saw them. They seemed more... grown up.

The pack ran for about five hours, until the car came to a stop.

Tom got out and handed everyone water bottles. Once everyone stopped drinking they looked around and gasped. They were standing on the grounds of a mansion.

What are we doing here? Maddy thought.

The mansion was a sandy colored with a foundtain and a ton of balconies.

''What are we doing here?'' Demetra's dad asked.

''This,'' Shannon said, ''Should be one of the places Dr. Whitwood will least likely look for you.''

She escorted everyone inside, and Ceri pulled Jana over, ''Are you sure we can trust them?''

Jana nodded, ''Yes, they're my friends.

When everone walked inside,  they looked around in astonishment. Tom lead everyone to a giant room, ''Ok, so you guys will sleep here.'' and he left.

Maddy looked around the room. She felt like the Tom and Shannon she knew no longer existed, and that her life would never be normal again. She felt tears in her eyes and ran out of the room.

Maddy ran two flights of stairs until she came to a balcony on the front of the house. She hunched over the railing and watched her tears fall onto the ground two stories below.

It was late and it was freezing cold outside, but Maddy didn't care. All she wanted was her old life back, her friends, her home, her pack...

Then she felt a warm hand over the back of hers. She looked up and saw Rhydian. ''You're crying,'' he said.

Maddy turned her head the away and wiped her tears with the back of her thumb. She still didn't turn to face Rhydian.

 ''What are you doing out her Maddy? Aren't you cold?''

Maddy nodded and he placed his arm around her shoulder. Maddy took a shakey breath, ''Everone has changed too fast for me. Tom, Shannon, even you. I thought my life would be the same again one day, but everything is still in danger,''

Rhydian turned her body to face him, and Maddy buried her face in his chest. They finally broke apart and stared at each other. ''Maddy,'' Rhydian whispered, ''Our life will go back to normal one day. We all believe it.''

Maddy nodded. Rhydian smiled and kissed her gently and slowly.

Emma walked around the house looking for Maddy. It was almost dinner time and she still couldn't find her.

Then she finally picked up her scent. She followed it to the balcony. She opened the door and her eyes widened.

Standing in front of her was Rhydian and Maddy. Kissing.

They didn't seem to hear Emma. Emma silently closed the door and felt her heart pounding.

This can't be happening she thought and ran down stairs.
