Chapter 18

Chapter eighteen: Experiments

Rhydian ran as hard as he could to Dr, Whitewood's lab near the city. Once he got there, he sniffed the air to try and get Maddy's scent. But instead he smelled wolfsbane. He turned around and gagged.

''You alright mate?'' he heard someone say.

He looked up and saw Tom and Shannon walking towards him. They all smiled and had a big group hug.

''Where have you been Rhydian? The wild pack?'' Shannon asked.

Rhydian was shocked, ''What? Anyways, they captured Maddy and filled the building with wolfsbane and they could be experimenting on her right now!''

Tom and Shannon looked at each other, ''How did this happen?'' they said in unison.

Rhydian sighed, ''Look, I'll explain later. Right now our best friend is in danger.''

Shannon huffed, ''Fine, what do you want us to do?''

''I need you guys to go in the buliding and get me a mask so I can breathe. Then we'll find Dr. Whitewood and destroy her data and knock her out. Then we'll get Maddy.''

''Easier said then done,'' Tom said.

Shannon pursed her lips, ''Then let's split up. Tom and I will handle Dr. Whitewood and you can get Maddy.''

Rhydian nodded and Tom and Shannon ran into the building.

After about five or six minutes, the came back holding a breathing mask.

Rhydian put it on, ''Thanks for doing this for me.''

They nodded and entered separate parts of the building.

Tom and Shannon walked to the building looking for a map. ''Gosh this place to massive!'' Tom said.

Shannon skimmed the walls and saw a map. She ran up to it and looked for Dr. Whitewood's office and saw it.

''There!'' Shannon said and pointed to a spot on the map. Tom looked at it. ''Why does it have to be so high up!''

Shannon rolled her eyes and headed for the staircase.

When they finally reached the office, Dr. Whitewood had just left. They ran up to the door but it was locked. ''Great,'' Tom said.

Shannon crosseed her arms. ''Clearly you don't know how to pick a lock,'' and she took out a paperclip and bobbypin from her bag and went to work.

''Shann, this is a lab! These locks are probaby pick proof!''

Shannon turned around, ''Pick proof?''

''Whatever,''

Shannon went back to work and opened the door. The first thing they saw was a security camera. Shannon kept her head down and covered the camera with her hat.

They began deleting evidence from the computers and electronics. Then they stole any files and put them in Shannon's bag along with  Maddy's blood and saliva. They ran out just in time before Dr. Whitewood came back.

Rhydian ran towards the underground part of the building. He ccouldn't use this smelling senses, but he could still use his hearing. He got to the cells and started looking in each one of them.

No sign of Maddy.

He ran deeper into the hall and saw a cell with bars. He went up to it and saw Maddy passed out on the floor with her claws.

Rhydian crouched next to the cell,''Maddy!'' he whispered.

He grabbed the bars trying to pull them of but they burned his hands. Rats! Silver! he thought.

He looked at the barred door, trying to find a weak spot. There was a keyhole that wasn't made of silver, but he didn't have a key. H e reached into his pocket, and took out a pocket knife.

He tried every single tool of there to try and get the locked open. He finally found the right one, and he carefully pushed the door open avoiding the silver.

He ran up to Maddy who was still unconcious on the floor. He picked her up and ran back to the door, but someone was blocking it. Dr. Whitewood.

'' Well'' She said, ''This is a shocking surprise,'' she was holding a can of sleeping gas.

Rhydian growled and unleashed his claw right across Dr. Whitewood's face. She  fell to the ground in pain and Rhydian ran out the door.

He ran through the city making sure people couldn't see him carrying an unconcious body. He finally got to the town, and Tom and Shannon were already there. ''Ok good,'' Rhydian said, ''I've got to take Maddy back to the pack.

''What about the research?'' Shannon asked.

''Don't worry, I trust you guys''

Jana moved the pack to a different forest after Rhydian left. Eveyone had their doubts about Rhydian, but Jana trusted him.

I had been almost twenty five hours since he left, but Jana knew that Stoney Bridge was very far.

The pack had picked a new campsite, and had made as many woven huts as possible. But no one had the engery to go hunting.

Then Rhydian came out of the east side of the woods, carrying Maddy who was unconcious.

It was very late and Jana was the only one wake.

''Rhydian! Is Maddy ok?''

''I don't know, she's been asleep since I rescued her.''

Jana pointed to a hut, ''You and Maddy can sleep there'' and she giggled.

Rhydian rolled his eyes and walked over to the hut.

He set Maddy down and pushed her hair behind her ear. She looked dead, but he could hear her heart beat normally.

He sat down next to her and rested his back against the hut. He held her hand in his and he fell asleep.

Dr. Whitewood got up from the floor and took out a mirror from her coat pocket. She examined her face and noticed the scratch marks on her face looked like claw marks.

Dr. Whitewood took out her mobile and called her assistant.

''Yes Dr. Whitewood?'' the assistant answered.

''Pack up. We have two werewolves to find.''
