Chapter 19

Chapter nineteen: Reunited

Maddy woke up and realized that she wasn't in the cell anymore. Instead she was inside a woven hut. She looked up and saw Rhydian asleep and holding her hand. She got up, kissed his cheek, and walked out the door.

When she walked out, only Jana, Bryn, and Demetra were awake. Bryn looked like he was preparing to go hunting, and Demetra was buidling a playpen with logs.

They saw Maddy and ran up and hugged her. ''Thank God you're alright!'' Jana exclaimed.
''Yeah,'' Bryn said, ''Jana told us you looked dead when Rhydian saved you from Dr. Whitewood.''

Maddy smiled at the thought of Rhydian going through all that trouble to save her. She looked at Jana, ''Is there anything I can help with?''

Jana nodded. ''The pack healers need more supplies for our poitions and medicine. They're in the north side of the forest. Find them and tell them I sent you to help them.''

Maddy saluted and Bryn and Demetra laughed. It's great to be back Maddy thought.

She turned around and bumped into Rhydian. They looked at each other for what seemed like forever.

''Oh Rhydian!'' Jana said, ''I need your help with something.''

Rhydian walked to Jana without taking his eyes off of Maddy. Maddy could hear Bryn and Demetra snicker.

Maddy ran to the north side of the forest looking for the pack healers.

The pack healers weren't that far from campsite when Maddy found them. About a third of a mile away.

''Jana sent me to help you guys,'' Maddy said when she approached them.

One of the healers tossed Maddy a sack that smelled like rosemary. ''We'll need you to fill that up with as much rosemary as you could find,'' he then told her.

Maddy put her right hand to her heart, ''You have my honor!''

The pack healers laughed, ''I can see why Rhydian likes this one,'' one of them said.

The healers and Maddy searched around they forest sniffing hard.

Jana walked up to Bryn and Demetra, ''Hey guys'' she said, ''I'm sorry I puinshed you guys for bringing Rhydian. You did the right thing. So to thank you, I'm taking away your punishments.''

''No thanks'' they said in unision.

Jana arched her eyebrows, ''Why not?''

''This is actually really fun,'' Bryn said, ''it's very different'' and he ran into the woods to hunt.

''Same here,'' Demetra ''It adorable to just watch these cubs.''

Jana smiled and rolled her eyes. She turned back to Rhydian who was also smiling. Jana stood up straight, ''Good job rejecting Maddy,''

Rhydian laughed. Jana put on a matter of factly face, ''So to celebrate, I'm going to teach you how to WEAVE!''

Rhydian's smile disappeared, ''What?''

Jana pushed his shoulder,'' Come on, it'll be fun!''

Rhydian groaned and Demetra pointed and laughed at him.

Maddy's rosemary sack was almost full by the time they decided to head back to camp for breakfast.

Once they got back, Maddy saw Jana trying to teach Rhydian how to weave, while Demetra was weaving too, but wasn't taking part in the lessons.

Rhydian looked up and saw Maddy. He stood up, ''Break time!''

''No, sit down'' Jana said and pulled him back down. ''Maddy's gonna weave with us too! You guys will get your 'alone time' '' she made finger quotes, ''after the lessons.''

Rhydian huffed and Maddy giggled.

After breakfast and the lessons, Maddy walked to her and Rhydian's hut.

 She sat down on the floor and looked the picture Rhydian showed her the other day. The one with Tom and Shannon. She really missed them.

 After five minutes Rhydian walked in, and her pulse sped up. He sat down next to her and held her hand.

Maddy sighed. ''I don't know when I'll be able to go back,'' she said gloomly, ''Just when I thought Dr. Whitewood was off our case.''

Rhydian squeezed her hand. '' She was until I disappeared,''

Maddy looked at him. ''I spoke to Demetra at breakfast, and she said at first you didn't want to come. What changed your mind?''

He looked back at her. ''The note you wrote before you lost your memory. When Demetra left it behind, I read it and realized that you you needed me. And I needed you.''

He then put a look on his face as if he said too much. But Maddy smiled and leaned forward and kissed him.

She pulled back after a couple seconds, and rested her head on Rhydian's shoulder. They sat there quietly staring at the photo.
