It's been a couple of days since the big funeral and spending an afternoon with Ibiki reliving my experience of the professors battle with Orochimaru. I've been working at the tower nonstop for the most part; because I was the third's assistance I had to sort through all of his paperwork, go through his will, and schedule a council meeting about a new Hokage because without one we were vulnerable to attacks.

A falcon was perched on the desk waiting for his assignment. I was still sorting through the thirds will, so I simply placed the picture in Kakashi's file in front of the animal. He chirped once before flying out of the window.

I sighed, running my fingers through my hair. 'The old man wanted Tsunade to be the next Hokage, but no one knows where the old hag is. I'll have to send Pervy-sage back out there.' I stretched my arms behind my head until I heard a satisfying pop. 'I'll have to think about it a bit more after the meeting. Speaking of, the the council, they should agree on my choice to make Kakashi Hatake a temporary Hokage.' I got up from my spot just as someone knocked on the door. "Come in Kakashi." Said man did as told. "You summoned me sir." Kakashi paused at my semi-glare. "Gomen. Force of habit." I nodded. "It's cool. I need you to accompany me for a meeting. I'll explain on the way." As I gathered up the documents I would need Kakashi asked me why he specifically would need to be there. "Council meeting. I personally, along with several others, have come to the agreement that you are the best choice to serve as a temporary Hokage until we can get lady Tsunade to take her rightful place as Hokage. Although the council may not know of the temporary part. I haven't decided." Kakashi shrugged. "So I'll be more a public figure than anything." He chuckled as we existed the office. "Alright. At least it's not permanent." I shook my head with a laugh to hide the worry that most likely shown on my face. "Well you're position might be permanent if we can't get through to Tsunade." He nodded. "You'll start working from eight in the morning to.. "I paused, thinking the time over, "possibly five or six as well, but we might be here till midnight tomorrow." The scarecrow spluttered for a minute. "Please tell me there will be coffee." I thought about it for a minute before nodding my head yes. "There's a coffee machine in the break room. I can try to get a couple of cups up to the office before you get here," I stopped to help a coworker who was about to fall. "but you're on your own after that." I could tell Kakashi was pouting without even looking at him.

I grabbed his hand and sunshined us to the meeting hall. "Just sit in the old man's chair and you'll be fine." The copycat nodded numbly. I let his hand go and opened the council door and walked in. The door slammed shut before opening again as Kakashi walked in. The council members rose to there feet. A civilian representative with the same last name as Sakura spoke first. "About time you showed up Mr. Shuyo! Who are you planning to choose for the next Hokage!?" I grimaced at her loud tone but nodded none the less. "We are all early so please be seated so we can get to the topic of your question." I stood behind the third's chair as Kakashi sat down nervously. "I; along with some others, have come to the decision to have Kakashi Hatake as the next Hokage until further notice." Said man straighten a little at the sound of his name. "Your reasons?" Danzo snarled in my direction. 'He's never really liked me for some odd reason.' I sighed and waved my hand towards the head genius. "Shikaku, if you will." Said Nara nodded clearing his throat. He went on to explain that Kakashi is a loyal Shinobi, and he has an arsenal of Jutsu(s) at his disposal so he's the most able to defend us. Shikaku wrapped up his extremely short speech by mentioning that he even though Kakashi wasn't exactly a genius, he was a really smart and reliable shinobi.
A murmur spread through the room for a couple minutes. "I agree." I nodded my head towards the head of the Hyuga clan. "I agree as well." The head of the Aburame clan nodded turning there attention to the Mimehko clan. She took a moment before agreeing as well. "Kakashi's a good man. I agree." The head Inuzuka spoke up with a wolfish grin. " I smiled in thanks, but that turned into a frown when I heard Danzo scoff. "Anyone who think that Kakashi Hatake is not the best choice we have for the position at the moment speak up." Absolute silence met my words. I cleared my throat to end the devastating amount of KI in the atmosphere. "Dismissed." I bowed before everyone filed out of the building. Kakashi and I were the last ones to leave.

"That was," Kakashi breathed. "intense." I nodded. "That the first time that everyone's agreed on something. I think It helps that the civilian don't know you too personally and the clan heads that do know you, respect you well enough." We exited the double doors and walked through the village. "I need to get back to the tower; so if you want you can go home and prepare yourself for tomorrow, you can." Kakashi's shoulders sagged in what I guessed to be relief. "Arigato." He sunshine'd away as I continued my stroll back to the office.
