1. The Move

"It's a fresh start. A new beginning, what could possibly go wrong?"

Veronica's POV;

"Yes mom I have everything...No I'm not going to get lost." I say into the phone as I talk to my mother while I find my bags at baggage claim.

My mom was against the idea of me living so far away. I just got accepted to UCLA for college and plan on staying with my dad. My parents have been separated for the past six years.

I've lived with my mom for the past years in Arizona and got to see my dad for holidays. But now I want to follow my dreams and go to college in California.

"I know it just makes me nervous to know you're over there. A lot of bad things could happen." She said.

I found my bags at baggage claim and walked outside the airport to look for my dad. I looked around and finally spotted him.

"I know mom but I'll be fine and I'll call every night. I got to go I see dad. Love you." I say quickly.

I heard her sigh, "Okay love you too."

I ended the call and walked towards him. He finally seen me and had a big smile as he walked towards me till we were in each other's arms.

"There's my princess!" He said as he hugged me.

"Hi dad."

We pulled apart and he looked at me, "Wow look how much you've grown! I haven't seen you since your freshman year of high school and now you're a freshman in college!" He said as he grabbed my bags.

"A lot changes in 4 years I guess." I said and he nodded his head.

"You got that right kiddo, so where do you want to eat?" He asked as we get into his nice black SUV.

It smelled like a new car, wonder if it was. You see my dad lives in a very expensive state and drives expensive cars. He is a CEO for a major Corp here in California so getting money is easy for him. But I'm not rich I have to work for my money, but also doesn't mean my dad isn't helping me with my college tuition. I'm just going to have to work for what I want.

"Oooo I'm really craving In-N-Out right now." I say. Thinking about it made my stomach growl.

"You read my mind." He laughed as he drove away from the airport.

We talked, sang, and laughed the whole ride to In-N-Out. I missed my dad, I've always been a daddy's little girl. It's just parents fall out of love and things happen. My mom and dad don't hate each other it's just they grew apart.

I miss my dad but I knew if I stayed with him over my mom she'd be heartbroken. My dad was too but he would busy himself with work till I seen him again. I knew my mom would've taken it the hardest.

We arrived at In-N-Out and I was starving. We got out and went inside since it wasn't as packed. We stood in line and waited till we got to the front. If I didn't have a burger in my system right this moment I was going to puke.

We waited for about five minutes till we got to the front. We ordered and then waited for our number to be called.

"So any boyfriends?" My dad asked breaking the silence.

If I was drinking soda I would've choked on it, "Um no." I said.

He let out a sigh of relief, "Good I was hoping not." He laughed and I pouted.

"Why? Dad I'm 18 I can have a boyfriend." I say and he looks at me like I'm crazy.

"Hun you're too young, think about school and getting your dream job. Make money and then think about boys all they're going to do is break your heart." He said putting his arm around my shoulder.

I knew my dad meant well, he always looked out for me. He was my best friend.

Our number had been called and I couldn't have been happier. The sight and smell of the food made my stomach rumble and mouth water. I took the first bite out of my hamburger and it tasted delicious. Like heaven.

A few minutes later we finished up and I was completely full. I finished all my hamburger, fries, and drink I don't actually know how I'm not the size of a cow. I eat a ton.

"Wow that was delicious." My dad said with a satisfied smile.

"You could say that again." I say as he got up to throw away the food.

He came back, "Ready to head home kiddo?" He asked and I nodded.

We got up and walked towards the front doors when I had the urge to use the bathroom.

"Oh I got to pee, meet you in the car." I tell my dad and he just laughed at my bluntness.

I turned back around and headed towards the bathroom. I turned the corner and came face to face with a wall. I got pushed back and landed on my ass, I think it was a wall.

"OW." I said as my butt and hands started to sting.

"You should watch where you're going." A male voice said.

I look up to see a tall guy with brown hair and dough brown eyes. He was very tall and very fit. Where the hell did this guy come from? A magazine? He dressed well also.

"Yeah I'll make sure to use my laser vision to see when a walking wall is coming near me." I say sarcastically.

He didn't find it so amusing, "Wall? Sorry you're a dwarf sweetheart." He mocked.

I gave him a glare, "Not your sweetheart jackass and the least you could do is help me up like a gentleman." I say getting up on my own.

"Hunny I'm not a gentleman." He stated.

I rolled my eyes, "Could've fooled me, last I checked they didn't allow pets in here. But I guess they make exceptions for asses like you." I throw back and he just smirks.

You know one of those, hot bad boy ones that you read about. Or see on tv, like they know they're getting under your skin.

"Well as much fun as this has been, I've got to go people to see and places to be." He said.

"I feel sorry for those people." I comment and he just shakes his head.

Ugh what an asshole. Hate to be anyone who has to deal with his crappy attitude. But I'm not going to let that asshat ruin my happiness. Time to start fresh. It's a new chapter in my life.
