"You're my getaway."

•••

Veronica.

The show had ended and everyone was making their way out. Since Shawn and I were supposedly a couple he held my hand as we walked out. That and it gets really crowded when everyone is trying to leave at the same time.

We got to the lobby of the building and he pulled me towards a table. We stood there and waited for Andrew to find us. Shawn had let go of my hand but kept it around my waist. I then felt him tense.

"Hey Shawn! Haven't seen you in so long how've you been?" A pretty tall and handsome guy asked.

"I'm good Cameron." Was all he said.

He didn't at all sound interested in this guy, he actually didn't sound like anything. His mood changed, I know I haven't known Shawn that long but even I could see how he was different. I mean he wasn't smiling, making a sarcastic joke, and definitely not being an ass. It was scary.

"Sorry I'm being rude, I'm Cameron Dallas. And you are?" He asked me.

I didn't know what was going on between them but I wasn't going to be rude. It was something between Shawn and him not me.

"I'm Veronica." I say with a smile.

He gave me a smile back, "Wow what a pretty name for a pretty girl." He said.

I felt Shawn's grip on my side tighten a little. He was still silent and standoffish. This was really awkward.

"Thank you, well Shawn and I should get going but it was really nice meeting you Cameron." I say trying to find an escape in this space of awkwardness.

I then grab my clutch off the table and take Shawn's hand in mine and interlace our fingers. Cameron noticed because his smirk faltered as it hit him that we 'are' a thing. He just put up a fake smile and nodded.

"Yeah maybe I'll see you around, bye Shawn. And it was definitely a pleasure to meet you Veronica." He said and I just nodded.

I then lead Shawn out with our hands interlaced. I didn't know if Cameron would follow us or anyone else. I held his hand till we got to our car.

"Wait Andrew." Shawn finally spoke.

"Text him to meet us here instead." I tell him as I let go of his hand and get in the car.

Shawn followed in after and started typing away on his phone. I checked my phone and didn't have any missed texts from my parents. I just realized that this was a live televised show. I mean the red carpet was anyways.

I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard him talk, "Thanks for what you did back there."

I look at him with a shocked face, "Did the arrogant ass just apologize? The world must be ending." I say sarcastically.

He rolled his eyes, "Well don't start expecting it cause it wont happen again."

There was the arrogant asshole, "Don't worry I won't, let me just mark it down in my calendar." I say back.
