Thomas' POV:
He's gone. We have to move on it's what he would have wanted. We'll grieve for him once we're done. Until then we have to defeat Castor. In his honor we have to go defeat him and bring back the school he ... I don't know how he feels about the school. But we'll bring it back for him. "Alright guys lets get into that ball and bring back our school." I fill my bag with binders "Are we ready?"
Mandy nodded and took a bite of the last cookie. Ty adjusted his shirt and gave me a thumbs up. Steven lit a torch and smiled mischievously. Kai didn't move, he didn't respond, he didn't even blink. I can feel something in him has changed. Something has shattered. I hope he'll be better soon.
We started moving towards the ball. It sat not moving but growing ever more intimidating the closer we moved to it. How do we find a way in? I'm sure we'll destroy a way in ... did I say destroy I meant peacefully walk in. Who am I kidding we are just gonna break our way in. I don't like having to find ways like that in but I'm okay with it purely because its the only way in. We charged up. The light started fading. We stood in the shadow of the massive ball. Castor's face appeared on the side. "Oh my, you're still here well I've got to say you have ... well I would say you have spunk but that sounds cliche and slightly inappropriate. Well whatever you have it'll serve you well I've found souls without it don't seem to take isolation well. You, however, will be just fine that's why I'm going to commandeer your body. You see the fool they left behind for me to take over is nothing more than a puppet of mine now. Hopefully you find someone as kind as Pollux to let you into their body. Lucky for you I believe there is a vacancy with Pollux actually I should know I'm the one who left him. I don't think you two would work out well together though seeing as how neither of you have that take charge personality. You'd both probably try and let the other one take control so much that the body you inhabit just waists away. I feel bad saying that since he is my brother but I must say it's for my greater good. I think you'll find that we've blocked your only exit with a typhoon of clouds. This is the part where the villain normally says something cliche like 'ciao' or 'au revoir,' but I think it is still better left to don't let the door hit you on the way out." I'm going to hit him in the face so hard. Steven blasted a hole in Castors nose. Castor glared at him through the projection "You of all people should know I don't take kindly to retaliation of any kind for this you all shall pay."
The goo poured out of his nose intensely. It was different color it was more of a dingy yellow green color. It formed a large vulture like creature. I looked at Kai normally he'd have something to say about this but here he said nothing simply propelling himself forward at it. "I will protect Thomas no matter the cost, no matter the pain, no matter what."
He stopped short of the creature grabbing debris and converted it into long slashing claws. He slashed wildly at the creature. Chunks of goo flew off as the creature shrieked in pain. He attacked and destroyed the monster with ease. Suddenly another appeared and another and another. There were 20 separate ones. "Hmph. Irritating" Kai looked at me no mercy in his eyes "Thomas make that barrier" I tried demanding safety once more begging to have it granted to me "Thomas that is not how you demand anything. Remember YOU demand it."
He's right. I don't beg for my powers to work. They are my powers and they will work. A small, red dome formed around my friends and I. Kai walked out. He smiled at me once more his big dopey grin. "I don't know if I'll be around after this. I've never had to go this big before. Thomas stay safe."
Suddenly a small ball formed around him. It condensed as he curled up inside of it. Then without warning he blasted all of the energy outward. The blast was blinding. My small dome shook and cracked under the stress. When I opened my eyes there was a massive hole in the ball. I spotted a small figure on the ground. Kai lied there still breathing. We all dashed over to him. "Kai are you okay here I have more batteries will that help?"
He smiled up at me then shook his head lightly. "No it'll only delay the inevitable. I'm almost fully drained. I'm a rechargeable battery that has reached it's end. That blast was everything I had drained. Thomas it's time I left you. You are old enough to be left on your own now. I just wish I could have enjoyed my youth a bit more but I wouldn't change a thing." He grabbed my hand softly and held it tightly. "Soon I'll be with Paul and we can enjoy all the time as teens that we didn't get. I know you'll do the right thing Thomas. Mandy come closer. I need to ask you one last favor is that okay? I need you to protect him and make sure he gets where he needs to be. He'll know what to do. Also if you can please leave oolong tea at my grave. It always was my favorite. But if you can't find any chamomile was a second favorite of mine."
I leaned in and kissed him on the forehead. He giggled politely and asked us to let him watch the clouds alone. Mandy lifted us into Castor's evil ball of probable death. Kai faded into the distance as we were lightly lifted in. Nobody cried, Kai would've wanted us to smile if he were still with us.
