How Could You?

Thomas POV:

School, School, I'm finally going back to school. I'm almost at the door. My first class is there to the left. I'm already there. I'm sitting. "Thomas I need to see you"

You could physically hear how hard my head hit the desk. I look up to see my teacher holding a massive stack of papers. I leaned down and pulled the same stack out of my bags handing it to her. Her eyes lit up as she took the stack and walked away. I have five more stacks like that. I've missed months of school and I've still kept up with my schoolwork better than others who haven't missed a single day. 

I go from class to class handing them stacks of homework that I'd been holding onto. I sat down in my last class of the day. I wasn't ready to pay attention or even watch out the window. I had a notebook. I set my pen down on the paper and slowly started to draw. It was a marshmallow. I gave him a small face. Then I drew another one he had a mirror and was bigger. Then I drew a third it had long hair and cookies. I drew two more one was stone faced and the other had a big smile with sad eyes. I kept drawing one after the other. Eventually I had so many the entire page was covered. 

Class finally ended and I walked outside. It was beautiful out. I stared at the sky watching the sky. I moved to a small park and stared at the clouds. Eventually something changed the clouds got darker. They started accumulating above the school. They continued to grow at a concerning rate. "Kai ... um Paul can one of you call someone about this?"

No response. I know they can hear me. They are all probably doing it already anyway. The clouds started to form a dome around the school. Without warning the dome went from miles above the school to on the ground with the entire school surrounded. The clouds changed colors to a deep purple. A screen appeared on the top. "I know you all can hear me. So here are my demands."

There was nothing on the screen. Then it flashed to life with Castor standing front and center. Behind him in the shadows was a defeated looking Pollux. He kept mouthing I tried. Castor tapped the screen "Ah, there we are. Now demand number one. I want you all to bow down to me and accept me as your ruler. Number two I want to establish an arena where you will all fight for my amusement. Number three is my final demand but I want a host. I want to take one of your precious bodies and keep it as my own. Now who's body does not matter to me but I will take whichever body and you will be eliminated. You have 12 hours to decide amongst yourselves. Now off you go to decide."

I gasp sharply. Then there is a sharp pain in the back of my head. I passed out. When I came to I was sitting in a tree where the sun was high in the sky. I looked around this isn't where I was I'm not in the school anymore. A hand grabs my shoulder and yanks me up higher into the tree. "Thomas we do not have time the entire school has been evacuated except for the one student sacrifice." Kai was holding me tightly. "I missed you. Now you have to go join the other students Paul and I have to secure the perimeter a bit more and I promise we will keep you safe no matter what not even because it's our job anymore."

Kai winked at me and leapt out of the tree. He ran into the middle of the crowd and launch his eye. I looked below me and saw my opportunity to save myself some energy. Lightly lowering myself from the tree I landed lightly landed on Stu's broad shoulder. I rubbed his shaved head lightly. "Yes Thomas?" His gruff voice made me feel safe "Wait why are you on my shoulder? How did you get on my shoulder?"

I shushed him lightly and continued to sit on his shoulder. I haven't seen Stu since the mission where I found Sen. Wait where are my animals? This is concerning. I heard a cawing and I steered Stu towards it. In a small area they all stood. I had all eight dogs, 12 cats, three crows, five hummingbirds, Harold, and Sen. I climbed off Stu's shoulder and hugged them all. "Thomas there you are" Mandy and Ty tackled me "Wait where's Kai? Thomas, WHERE IS MY KAI-BUG? Also where's Paul?"

I hugged Mandy tightly. Ty kissed me softly on the forehead. "Kai said he and Paul were going to canvas the area they'll be back soon." Mandy sighed with relief. "Mandy, Ty, I need your help I need I have to talk to the headmistress. I think I know what's going on and I think I know how to stop it." 

Mandy lifted Ty up so he could search the crowd. He scanned until he saw her. With that I hopped on Stu and he launched me in her direction. I landed softly in a heap of snow. It was one of the students I'd given a tour to not to long ago. I climbed out of the snow. "Thanks. Um headmistress. Headmistress, it's Thomas I have an idea what's going on. I think I know how to end it."

She didn't turn and look at me. I tapped her repeating my statement. "Thomas I heard you the first time I was waiting for you to tell me your plan because I've heard three other plans in the last ten minutes and I'm starting to think we'll just let him take the school and we'll re-set up the school somewhere else I mean It'll be easier."

I smiled at her. "We won't have to move the school. I can fix this. I read about this skill its a combo of his possession and Pollux's water manipulation. What he's doing is using the clouds to simulate a soul. He's been practicing it since before he lost his body but I also read a bit about it afterwards before he left. The scary part is since he's simulating his soul in there he can use his powers and summon anything he wants. The upside is that I can do the same. I can take it back but all I need is a small team. I'll need Mandy, Ty, Steven, Kai, and Paul."

She nodded lightly at me "You have them but Kai and Paul are to continue acting as your retainers only taking orders from you but they must not candidly make idle conversation. I find it useless so the only words to be exchanged are orders and yes sir. Now go and save our school."
