Nomas frowned sitting up from the bed. He blinked a few times trying to remember where he was as he stood. The stone walls clung around him making him reevaluate his standing. He stepped out of the bed with a frown. He remembered the Weaver. And Destola. He was in Destola.
His tail twitched as he tried to remember what had taken place the evening before. He had flashes of memories. Flowers, drinks, a meal, and...
He gulped loudly looking at the woman in the bed where he had just been. Viola was sleeping peacefully as Nomas smiled. His bare feet moved along the smooth hardwood as he went towards the door to find where he was in the castle. His ears twitched as he heard someone approach from the other side of the door.
He felt for his blade and frowned at its absence. The door swung open forcing Nomas a few steps back as he readied for a fight. In stepped the young man with his raven hair flowing behind him. Nomas let a relieved sigh looking at his son's approach. Bowing Sampson smiled. "I was coming to wake you both." He said adjusting himself as he stood looking at the older man and then to his mother.
Nomas smiled nodding as he rubbed his chin. Two years without a good shave had left him with quite a beard, something he wanted to get rid of as soon as he could. Stepping back he looked at the room and let a breath. "Give me a moment." Nomas said with a frown as he walked back to gather his armor.
In his long life, he had learned never to let his armor wander too far from his body. He grabbed the breastplate from the ground with a frown as the scarf fell from it. Grabbing it he sat at the edge of the bed. The other thing he had learned was never to refuse a gift from the Weaver, she always knew what to hand out and when.
The armor was donned quickly and he buckled it tight to his body. He weapped his hand around the scarf with a frown before he wrapped it on as well letting the red material drape across his back. Turning back to his son he took note of the burns still healing up and down his arm. He walked past with a smile and into the hall. If he knew one thing it was this castle.
Walking briskly past the queen's room Nomas smiled. "So you're a magician, like you mother?" He asked casting his gaze to the body dollowing quickly behind him. His robes flowing quickly behind as he was forced to jog to keep up with the elder's stride.
Nodding slightly the smaller man smiled. "Everyone has their gifts." He said feeling rather clever about his statement. "I got mother's."
"And your brother got mine." Nomas finished with a nod. He knew that his son was rather clever to have followed in viola's steps in magic. "Are you good? Runes can be hard to perfect. I have seen men destroy their body and mind trying to mimic your mother's castings." He said walking with a raised brow.
Sampson shook his head. "No. I am little more than a novice. But within a few years, I will likely be able to set off on my own. Find my place in the world..."
"You have a place." Nomas interjected with a frown. "You are to replace the queen should she pass." He stated quickly as his head returned to let him watched the hall turn into a courtyard where the remains of a large dirt statue was beginning to crumble. "But for now you need to practice."
The statue tood tall in the yard, and Sampson looked at it with anger in his eyes. Nomas could see the slight shimmer of magic still holding most of it up making Nomas frown. "Mom wanted you both woken up early. That's why I came to raise you."
Nomas nodded slightly rubbing the back of his neck feeling the wind blow through the hole in his ear. "I am always needed." He chuckled as he started walking again. This time towards the throne room. Nomas noticed there were almost no guards in their path as they went. Probably a precaution to avoid an ill informed soldier attempting to arrest the man.
