The sun burned as Nomas began to regain his senses. The world was moving too quickly for him and he felt that it was too chaotic to even attempt to move. He was laying on his back with blankets across his chest, they were tight, almost like he was tied down to the ground holding him down onto the bed. HIs face hurt and he could feel that his left cheek was swollen.
He could hear breathing, and heartbeats, three of them. Forcing his eyes open despite the bright light he quickly tried to recoil from. Curtains were drawn and the room was suddenly consumed by darkness letting him see properly. Selene was standing beside the window with a frown.
"You're awake," Selene said walking up with a small plate with a few pieces of fruit and dried meat. She seemed much more lady-like now, instead of the tight fitting armor from before she was wearing a nice blouse and a skirt that nearly dragged on the floor as she approached.
Her raven hair was pulled back into a ponytail showing off her light green eyes in the darkened room. Nomas blinked a few times trying to find a light source, though he found none. "And you're a woman." He said before letting his head hit the pillow again as he laughed. "I would have never guessed."
She frowned dropping the plate on his chest before crossing her arms. "You sure he isn't an ass?"
Nomas laughed a bit more before staring at the ceiling. "God, this is strange. How am I seeing so well?" He asked looking at Selene again.
"Foxes have reflective bits in the back of their eyes, like cats. Something nice to have for predators." She explained still liking rather ticked about his comment. "How do you feel?"
He shook his head. "Like I was just rolled down a hill in a barrel. Everythings shaky and I swear I can hear and smell everything. How long was I out?" He asked finally.
"Few hours, it's just past four. Eat this." She said shoving a piece of meat towards his mouth. Nomas took it quickly with little reservation before immediately spitting it out and gagging. Spitting as much as he could from his mouth he looked hard at the woman.
"What are you feeding me?" He asked trying to get the overwhelming taste of salt out of his mouth.
"You aren't used to it yet, too overwhelming," Constantine commented as he walked into the room with Danielle in his arms. "But that means we are making progress." He said with a smile as he set the young girl down. She quickly ran up to Nomas side with a smile.
Nomas managed to look up at the shifter as Dani began to pet his ears. Unlike the evening before she seemed to be more comfortable approaching the man, and he couldn't deny that the touch was slightly soothing. "What did you do to me?" He asked in a harsh whisper, and even though he was trying to keep his voice down it seemed to echo and amplify in his skull, everything seemed too loud, too bright, too full of taste. All of his senses were reeling out of control.
"I let your mind free. When you tried to change your senses heightened, we just kind of... broke it." He said with a frown. "It was a powerful, if not dangerous, way to throw your training ahead a few weeks. That feeling you have now is what we have going on most of the time, you aren't limited to human attributes anymore."
Nomas groaned trying to figure out what was going on around him in the room through the glare and brightness. "My head hurts." He said dropping his head back onto the pillow. This wasn't at all how he wanted to be. Being this weakened by sunlight along would hinder him in a fight. A bright light or a loud noise would reduce him to a pile of sensory overload.
The pair nodded. "Yeah, that's normal." They both muttered at the same time. As Nomas began to make out what was going on around him he could see Selene at the side of the bed untying the rope holding him in place and Nomas lay there with his tail moving quickly at his feet from its newfound freedom.
