After my father embarrassed me i ran inside to find my mama. "Mama I'm sorry for sneaking out, but daddy..." "Have you lost your everlasting mind?" She asked pacing back and forth.

"No i was just... i needed to get out of here for a while after dealing with dad." She looked at me.

"Your father shouldn't have said what he said, but running off like that cannot happen ever again." She let a sigh pulling me into a hug. "I'm sorry mama." "Where were you, anyway?" I bit my lip. "I was with the guy from yesterday." She started laughing as she looked at me. "You were out with a boy. Should have known. Who is this little nigga anyways?" She asked. "Jacques."

She stopped walking and looked at me. "Jacques." I nodded my head as my dad walked in. "Little girl you must want your ass beat." I rolled my eyes. "Roll'em again i dare you. Go on do it." "Giovanni." My dad turned to her. "What!?" He said raising his voice. My mama looked at him like he lost his mind. "Excuse me?" She said crossing her arms. He took a breath. "My bad." She squinted her eyes at him. "Mhm, Evie, baby go to your room." I smiled hugging her. "Okay mama." I got up and walked off.

"What the fuck was that?" I asked Anaya looking at her like she was crazy. "One: don't raise your voice at me. Must have lost your mind." She mumbled the last part. "I said my fault. You know i didn't mean too." She mugged me. "Yeah whatever. Do you know who that boy was she was with?" I shrugged. "Some kid with a death wish that she met at that party YOU let her go to." She gave me a look but she knew i was right. "You're pushing it. Shut up." "Don't be mad cause i was right." I said." She mugged me even harder. "You really want to get hurt. Keep messing with me. Anyways that was Jacques." I looked at her not saying a word.

"That was Jacques." I shook my head. "Shit. Does Evie know?" She nodded her head. "She told me." I went and sat on the bed with my face in my hands. "She can't be with him. Not after everything that happened." I said as she walked towards me and stood in front of me. I looked up at her pulling her down on my lap. "I think you're overacting. This is the kid who used to share his cupcake with her. Beside if this about the Mason-Andreas thing I've put that in the past." I buried my face in her neck sighing trying to calm down. "I don't want her around that family." I mumbled against her neck. "What?"

"I don't want her anywhere near Jacques or his father." She sighed. "I really feel like you're being over dramatic. If i had listened to my parents Evie and the kids wouldn't even be here and we wouldn't be having this discussion." She looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "I know that, but..." "And given our father's history it's kind of like a slap in Evie's face for you to say she can't see him." I sucked my teeth which made her smile. "I don't care. She's not allowed to be anywhere near him." I mumbled. "Seriously Giovanni?" she said looking at me annoyed. "So you've decided without taking in my opinion." She stood up about to walk off. "I just don't trust that kid." "What if he came over for labor day?"

I thought about it. "Come on Giovanni you have be willing to compromise just a little." I sighed. "Fine." I said walking over to her pulling her into my arms. I went to kiss her but she swerved. "What?" "I'm still mad at you." I pressed my head against hers. "I'm sorry alright. Let me make it up to you tonight." I whispered all of the things that i would do to her. "O-o-okay." I smirked.

I grabbed her arm. "Come on. We need to go deal with your daughter." Her eyebrow rose. "She's my daughter when she sneaks out." She looked at me with a straight face. "Yep because I just chill and go with the flow." Her eyebrow rose. "Really but weren't you just acting like the world was ending. Oh alright." She said walking off. I looked at her rolling my eyes gripped the hem of her tights pulling her short self-back to me and pressing her forehead against mine. "See it's going to be you and me tonight." I said biting her neck hearing her gasp before walking out.

I pulled up outside of my bosses building and I headed inside still pissed about what happened. I got upstairs to see Will, Tron, Des and some of the other workers. "Aye what's up trig." Tron said. I nodded dapping him up heading over to talk to Des. "Aye Des can i talk to you for a minute." He looked up from his phone. "What's up?" "Giovanni's your uncle?" He nodded. "Yeah why?" He asked. I was trying to think how to word my next question.

"Gentlemen let's get down to business." Magic said before i could ask my question. I shook my head. We all took our seats around the table. "Mookie and Champ found Lou and his men. D i want you and Trig to handle it." Des and i nodded. "And remember this if for J.J. and Nino and their kids." All of our postures and demeanor changed when boss brought up Nino and J.J.

About a month ago they were handling a job when they were taken by surprise. This nigga Lou and his men beat J.J. and Nino so badly that Nino was still in a coma and J.J is now blind in one eye. "Don't worry. We'll make them niggas pay." I said. "Good. Champ and Mook are taking them to that house on Kiest. They should be there by the end of the week. Other than that we good. Yall dismissed." We all nodded getting up. "Aye Trig, D let me talk to yall for a minute." Des and i walked back over to him. "What's up?" "Yall niggas still in school?" We nodded.

"Good remember our deal." He said specifically looking at me. "Man this is my last year. I'm going to finish." He chuckled. I joined Magic's crew when i was about 14. It was around the same time my pops got sentenced and my step mom ran off some other nigga. Des joined about a year and half later and since we were the youngest and he saw potential in us he made us swear to finish high school and make something of ourselves. "You still not getting it little nigga." He said with a sigh. I looked at Des who was shaking his head as well.

"What?" "When you find something or someone that means enough to you then you'll get it." He said shaking his head walking off. "I never understand what he means." Des laughed. "He's saying you haven't found that thing that'll make you want better for yourself yet." I smacked my lips. "And you have?" He chuckled shaking his head as he headed downstairs. "Nah but I'm trying to better myself for myself." I looked at him smacking my lips. I waved him off as i walked to my car. "Alright keeping playing you gone end up alone running the streets." I shook my head driving off.

I pulled up to my place and headed inside. After showering and eating i was lying in bed listening to my music play as it started to rain. I pulled out some weed and rolled a blunt. As i was smoking only one person came to mind. I grabbed my phone and dialed the number. "Hello." Her soft voice flowed into my ears. "So how much trouble did you get into?" I asked with a laugh.

She chuckled. "You only been back in my life for a day and you already getting me in trouble like you used to do." I laughed. "Stop lying. I was always on my best behavior." I said laughing at the last part. "See you couldn't even say that without laughing." She was right. I was a badass little kid. "Alright fine i may have been just little bit of a trouble maker." She giggled and it was the sweetest sound i had heard in a while. "You know it's almost 3 in the morning shouldn't you be sleep?"

"I could say the same about you. But in all honesty i just wanted to hear your voice one more time before i went to sleep." She got quiet for a minute. "Me too." I smirked. "I'm so ready for school to start." She said. I was not fucking ready for school to be back, but since it was my last year i could deal with it. "Yeah I'm not. What school you going to anyways?" "Duncanville." I chuckled. "You serious?" "Yeah why?" "Yall some lames." She smacked her lips. "And what school do you go to? Let me guess wackass Cedar hill." I chuckled. "Actually i do." She got quiet. "Eww and you called my school lame. Nigga please." I laughed.

"Evie take your ass to sleep." I heard who i assume was her dad. She sighed. "Alright dad." I heard shuffling then a door open. "Give me your phone." I heard her dad say. "Please daddy I'm sorry." I didn't hear him say anything. She sighed. "I have to go." I chuckled. "Don't sound so sad. Goodnight beautiful." I said. "Goodnight ugly." I laughed. "Now you know you lying." "Whatever talk to you later." She said as she before she hung up.
