I woke up Sunday morning and I brushed my teeth and washed my face before heading downstairs. My stomach growled at the smell of bacon and pancakes. I walked into the kitchen to see my family talking and walking around as my mom cooked. "Hi, mommy," I said standing next to her. "Oh, how did the date go?" She asked smiling. "Oh my God." I sighed with a smile forming on my face. "I think I love him," I said. I told her everything that happened on the date. "Aww that's so romantic." She said with a soft sigh. "It reminds of those daddy-daughter dates you used to go on with daddy." My mom said.

"So, did you know Langston is being bullied?" I asked. My mom turned around to look at me. "What?" She questioned. "He told me some kids have been picking on him and I'll gladly skip class tomorrow to fight a child. But I just wanted to run this past you and daddy first." I said. "Giovanni? Langston?" My mom called. "Ma'am?" Langston said as he came into the kitchen. "Yes, baby?" my dad asked. "Is there something you want to tell me and daddy?" Our mom asked Langston. He looked at me and I gave him a head nod.

"There's this guy at school who's been bothering me, but like I told Evie I'm handling it." He explained. "You're 13. We're supposed to be handling it. What has this kid doing?" Momma asked. "He's been stealing my lunch and he did this." He said raising his shirt to see a huge bruise. Our dad went over and examined the bruise before he clenched his jaw. "I'll deal with it." He said turning to look momma and me. "Giovanni—" My dad walked towards my mom kissing her forehead before looking into her eyes. "Trust me. I'll deal with it." He said. "They're children." My mom reminded me. He chuckled before looking at me. "And you will be in class tomorrow." He said kissing my forehead. "Daddy I really think I can help. I can hold the little demon child down while Lang beats him." I suggested gaining a chuckle from him. "As much as I love that you're willing to do that for your brother as your mother said he a child. Langston and I will handle it." He said before draping his arm over Langston and leaving. "Let's just hope your father doesn't end up doing something stupid." I nodded my head in agreement.

I sipped my cup of coffee as I left my first class of the day. I sat at the table where all my friends were. "What did y'all get into this weekend?" Rory asked. "Nothing chilled with the family," Carlos said. "I got some pussy, same ole same." Tony shrugged. "Fucking homework." Sonya pouted. I chuckled gaining everyone's attention. "What about you, Raheem?" Rory asked. "I chilled with my girl," I said looking at my phone. The chatter at the table stops causing me to look up. "What?" I said looking at everyone. "Your girl, huh?" Carlos said. "So, you and Evie finally made it official?" Sonya asked cheesing.

"It's about damn time," Tony said making me laugh. "Oh, and speaking of your girl," Rory said. I turned to see Evie trailing Chelle and Freddie as she talked to Des. "Hello, beautiful people," Freddie said. "I'm your cousin," Des said. "Des? Des?" Evie said but Des continued to talk. "Like we're blood—" "Des shut up!" Evie snapped. "We're fine. I'm not mad anymore, okay?" She asked looking at her cousin. "Really?" He said shocked. "Yeah Que and I have spoken and although I don't really see myself being as close to him as I was, I don't have too much animosity towards him, so we're good." She said patting his shoulder. "Oh, okay then." He said still shocked. "I stayed up half the night working out how to argue my case and we're good," Des said. "Would you rather we go back to me being annoyed?" She asked. "No, but someone needs to hear my case." He said. "Yo baby—" He called walking towards Chelle.

Evie rolled her eyes before walking over to me. I held my arms open for her so she could come into my arms. "I have so much shit to tell you about this weekend." She said as she wrapped her arms around my waist, I wrapped mine around her neck. She looked behind me which caused me to look as well only to see our friends smiling at our interaction. "I forgot that we hadn't told everyone about us being a thing now," Evie said laughing. "I already told them they're just being extra," I said. "Sorry but this is the first time we've gotten to see you two act like a couple all out in the open and y'all are just too cute," Sonya said. "Hey everybody." I looked to see Que and Mo-Mo walking up. I looked back at Evie to see her looking at the two. "Hi, Evie," Que said nodding towards her. We all watched waiting to see her response. "Hey, Que." She said before turning her attention back to me. "What's up Raheem?" Que said. I looked at him nodding my head before looking back at Evie confused. "Your class doesn't start until 2, right?" I asked her.
