I had just pulled up in front of the building. I got out and headed inside and walked up to the check in desk. "Please place all loose items in the bins and step through the metal detectors." The guard said. I did as told and stepped through. I went to the waiting area when a guard brought my dad out. "Why aren't you at school?" He questioned as he sat down.
"Did you help someone nigga named Andreas hurt Mrs. Naya?" He stared at me. "Yes." I looked away from him. "Why?" "Your grandparents got me caught up in some bullshit. I've regret what i did for the past eleven years, but I can't change the past no matter how much i wish i could." He said calmly. "Who told you about Andreas?" "Hassan." He nodded his head. "So i see you didn't listen to me when i said stay away from them."
"Were you only telling me to stay away from them so i wouldn't find out about what you did?" I asked. "Things i did in the past have caused me to have many enemies. I just don't want you to get caught up in my old lifestyle." I understood where he was coming from you can't trust too many people now a day.
"I understand what you're saying but do you know what I'm going through. I'm a senior I'm supposed to be going out having fun and worried about grades and yet my main concern is paying bills and making sure Jordynn's medical bill are taken care of. I'm alone, so being around Mrs. Naya, Evie, even Giovanni makes feel less alone." I looked my dad in the eyes and i could see the disappointment on his face. "I promise I'm going to make this right." He said standing up and walking off.

I was sitting in my car when my phone buzzed. I looked at it to see that homeboy Leo had sent me a text. "What the fuck?"

The whole school day had passed and Que never showed up for class and he didn't answer any of my texts. "I'm sure he just took a personal day. I mean he did find out a lot stuff this weekend." Claire said. I nodded but I was still a bit worried and i was thinking about going over to check on him when my phone chimed as we got in my car.
Papi 👅💕💋(3:30pm): Sorry I missed ya texts beautiful. I've been handling some business. I'll call you later tonight.
I rolled my eyes but calmed down as I put the key in the ignition. "I take it that was Que." Lani said cheesing. "Shut up." I said trying not smile. "Aww isn't that cute." They teased.

I was sitting in between my mama's legs as she did my hair with Claire sitting to my right. "So how was everyone's day?" She asked as she took my old braids down. "Okay i guess." Claire said. "What do you mean you guess?" Mama said making Claire smile. "Claire got herself a little boothang." I teased. "No i don't." "Let me find out you gotta little boyfriend and you haven't told me." Mama said mugging her. "It's not like that but if i ever get one I promise you'll be the first to know mama. So Evie how was your day." I laughed as she changed the subject to me. "Fine i guess. Dance class is killing me and boys are driving me crazy." Mama laughed. "Let's start with dance class."
"Well the advanced class has two fast paced dances to learn in a week and half. Then because I'm one of the better dancers I have to help the rhythmically challenged people." I said rolling my eyes while everyone was cracking up. "Rhythmically challenged. Girl they can't help that they don't have rhythm." I crossed my arms. "They shouldn't be in a dance class then." "What about these boys? Did Que do something because I fight children?" She asked pulling my head back. "No it Javaughn." Her eyes widened. "Oh lord. I thought he moved what did he do?" I rolled my eyes.

Flashback

"How you doing Evie?" Evie's eyes widened when she heard that island accent flow through her ears. She turned to see the last person she ever expected to see. "Javaughn." She whispered out still in shock at the once cute little boy who was now a grown man standing there with a cute smile. "Hi Evie." He said grabbing her pulling her into a deep kiss. She pushed him away. "We're not together anymore. You can't just go around kissing me especially because I have a boyfriend."
