"Hello Mom, where's Jasper?"
"Jasper left." Was the only two words I was given. As if that would perfectly explain where she was and why she was there. It was all so clear to my mom because she knew the details to everything, but sometimes she didn't stop to consider what facts other people knew or didn't know. My mother said that she had a little spirit that sat on her shoulder and told her the future and other facts she didn't know. She sounded deranged, I know, but she did have an uncanny method of sorts to predicting an outcome. It wasn't her religion or anything of that nature, she was just 'a tad' superstitious.
"Huh?"
"Jasper went back." She replied. "WENT BACK WHERE MOTHER? WHERE?" I questioned with great emotion showing her how frustrating she could be because of her minimal word use. "Back to..college, Peridot." She said with slight hesitation on that third word.
I was told that Jasper had to drop out, but my source for that information was Lazuli Lapis, an unreliable source, especially when it was told when you were getting yelled at for being useless.
Going off of that, Lapis had lightened up on me slightly, but still blamed me for what was happening. She described it as: "You can't help it, it's you." My reaction to this was unclear. There was clearly a harsh tone, but how much of it?
My mother and I drove in silence until arriving at our residence. As I entered, I was welcomed by a quiet house: Lazuli sat in the tv room, feet up, and Camp Pining Hearts, our favorite show, on high volume. Yatasha sat in the office typing God-knows-what with her fingers dancing across the keys and my other mom, walked slowly up the staircase to probably read in her room. My best option was to join the watching of Camp Pining Hearts: so that's what I did.

The next day, while at my locker, I spun in my code and glanced across the way to Amethyst. Her lilac, lavender hair was tied into a pony tail using her own hair as a tie: efficient. As I zipped up strapped up my bag, a hand was placed on my shoulder: Amethyst informed me: "Volleyball's cancelled ya know? It's 'cause of that 'basketball season's over' party whatever. Wanna do something with me?" While talking, she pushed her bangs slightly aside in order to see my reaction, but I focused on the bared eye that was rarely seen. This one sparkled just as much as the other chocolatey brown one, pleading for me to say yes. "Why do you you cover that one?" I said flatly, pushing her previous question to the side, and weakly pointing to her eye. "Oh ha, yeah it's because my wings aren't even usually."
I could tell this was partially true, but something about her tone implied other wise. Deciding to let that go, I brought the previous topic back: "oh, and sure."
"Sure what?" She asked confused
"Sure, I'd love to do something!"
I said with a clear tone of excitement that might have shown to much desperation.
"Oh yeah, c'mon!" She said walking to the exit.

I didn't even ask where we were going, but I soon found out. The sun has been blinding me for a while as I walked with Amethyst, her talking about something from school and I listening somewhat intently. "One sec." I told Amethyst as I set my bag on the ground and dug around for my visor. I pulled out a plain, entirely black visor with a green alien head on the front of it. After placing it nearly on my head, Amethyst gave a giggle and sped off to the beginning of the park.

I met her at the peak of the hill, out of breath, panting, with my hands on my knee caps. She sat under the big tree, her legs crossed, smiling at me, waiting for me to trek over. After returning the smile, with heat on my face from the blush that spread across it, I walked over, sitting across from her: our faces even.

"Hey, I wanna show you something!" Amethyst said, after we had been chatting beneath the tress for what seemed like minutes, but had actually been hours. She pushed her self up and grabbed my hand gently, neatly wrapping her fingers around mine. Amethyst squeezed my hand, that was half the size of hers, to show how she greatly wanted to introduce me to an object. I complied as she hoisted me up, as she often did, my feet rising above the ground for a while. As I landed I looked up, for my eyes to be met with her, our hands still intertwined. My head had to be titled at I slight upward angle, to get my eyes into hers, as she stood an inch taller than me. Still short I might add. We held this position for an eternity, in our minds, my thoughts getting lost her in her eyes that slowly blinked. "C'mon" she murmured as she tilted her head downwards, blush spreading across her face. I felt bad, her blush must have been from feeling embarrassed for me, for I must have done something wrong.
"I-I'm sorry." I said to her. "What? No. Why?" She said, her head shooting upwards. "Um, I don't really know..." I admitted. We ignored that last part as she walked around to the other side of the large oak-like tree, I following behind her like a duckling to its mother. She stared downwards at something on the tree that I had trouble finding with my eyes. "There" she pointed to a spot about a foot downwards with engraved letterings in it. It spelled out "Amethyst" sloppily, but after all: who could NEATLY sketch their name in wood? "I put that there when I was younger, a lot younger. I came here as a spot to think. It's always been my favorite. I've never brought anyone but Steven here before. And I guess you now. I mean I suppose it's not that special because literally anyone that wanted could sit here....but-but it's special to me." She sputtered. "I've never seen another person here though." I pointed out. "Well maybe it's because I used to scare off any kids that used to come up here or even look up towards the hill. The words probably gone around. Heh, they don't want to mess with me." Amethyst said with a small smirk still looking at her name in the dark brown bark. I studied it further, jagged lines, uneven, it was easily to tell this was indeed old. "Here." Amethyst said, handing me a leverage optimizer. I took it kindly, but unaware what I was supposed to do with it. Amethyst noticed my confusion and pointed just below her name. "Go ahead." She said. I grasped the leverage optimizer firmly in my hand and dug into the tree. I was crouched down, using what little muscle I had to pierce the first few layers of bark in the tree. The writing looked like chicken scratch when I had finished. It was legible but not neat. Slowly I stood up still gazing at my work. The letters read "Peridot." Continuing to look at it, I handed Amethyst back her tool, hands on my hips: proudly. "There." We said in unison. Our names: permanently in the tree, for its entire existence. Her name on top of mine. Here to show our.....friendship.
A/N: another sort of boring chapter. I apologize for that. If you didn't know I only do a basic outline of a chapter on my head right before writing it, so a lot of the time I wing it. But I have plans for many future chapters. I just hope I'm not taking this too fast or too slow. What do you guys think? Also are you looking forward to more drama or more fluffy Amedot?
