No Room for Imagining

It sure wasn't the ideal first kiss with Amethyst. Or in all honestly, first kiss ever. My lips just smashed into hers. Not even my lips, my face. It was really messy, for I had no concept or past knowledge for what I was doing. I was taught by camp pining heart episodes and crappy fanfics that were probably written by sixth graders. Taught by my daydreams and by my mothers, but I hadn't seen them do that in years. I didn't expect her to kiss back so quickly. She didn't pause. As my lips planted on hers and I spread them apart, she mimicked me. Her arms found themselves around my waist and my hands smashed her face together as I brought her closer. She guided me by taking over. I didn't mean to close my eyes, but they naturally did. Her hand shifted and rubbed my sides going from just below my arms sneaking right above my butt. She hesitated here, maybe afraid to make such a leap after I had done so as well. I removed my hands from her face to take her hands and demonstrate she could put them where she pleased.

I pulled back. I knew her lipgloss was smeared around the perimeter of my lips. I could taste some in my mouth too. A strawberry flavor. The flavor stayed in my mouth because somehow it knew I didn't want it to leave. In her lap I sat now, facing her. "How long?" I asked.

"Huh?" She said trying to hide a smile.

"How long have you liked me?"

"Lost track."

"And did you know I liked you?" I asked.

"Yeah."

"How long?"

"This week only." She admitted.

"And you didn't want to make the first move? Why would you do such a thing! Do you know anxious you made m-"

I was interrupted with a peck on the lips. It was nothing compared to what just happened. But I still loved it if course. "I wanted to see what you could do." Amethyst said. "Oh...."

There was a silent pause until Amethyst said. "..you know-you know you got-you got a little...lipgloss right there." she said circling around my mouth with her finger. "Oh ha ha." I nervously laughed furrowing by brow and wiping my arm across my mouth. We stared at each other for a good minute. I know I had that terrible, dorky smile on my face. It was confirmed when Amethyst said "Dork!"

She pushed into me and I fell to the ground. Her lips on mine.

"What happened to you two?" Garnet asked as Amethyst and I walked into their household, our fingers intertwined. "N-nothing!" I spat out dropping Amethyst's hand and placing my tiny fists onto my hips. Our clothes were a muddy mess. Like we had just came from the barn with foul animals or something. "Y-you know it was raining before. Lot and lots of mud." Amethyst added. "That doesn't explain the mess" Pearl said while walking through the passage way into their kitchen. "Quite the laundry I will have to be doing today."

"Well-uh-you know me! Clumsy as ever! Right Amethyst?" I added on, attempting an excuse. Amethyst continued it: "Oh yeah. Peridot she made a terrible fall down the hill in the park. And well I helped her up a-" Pearl interrupted: " 'terrible fall!' My god Peridot are you okay?" She said inspecting my body for cuts and scratches. Pearl tilted my head to the side and got real close to my neck. "Oh my, how odd, a bruise or two on your neck right here!"

I gave Amethyst a glance of 'save me' and she shot me a wide eyed look: knowing about that 'bruise'.

"Well, anyways, and I being the goof..ball I am, pulled her down with me........that's Friendship." I finished. Pearl gave us a deep sigh in exasperation. "Go take those off and toss them down for me to wash." At that: Amethyst and I jolted up the stairs to her room. "You're welcome" Pearl yelled at us before we were out of earshot.

As we walked into her lavender room she opened a drawer and flung me a solid grey-lilac t-shirt. It was going to be awfully big on me. As she tossed it at me it landed and draped over my head. "Thanks" I said with a giggle leaving it over my head. I began to cross my arms to pull my shirt over my head. "Peridot?" Amethyst interrupted.

"Huh?"

"Maybe...maybe you should go change somewhere else...?"

I knew this meant our friendship would be different now. Honestly, I wasn't looking forward to that, but there were more things to look forward to then not to.

After changing into her t-shirt, I faintly knocked on her bedroom door. "Ame? Are you done?" I asked

"Yeah, you can come in." She responded. I slowly and hesitantly opened the door. She was placing one of her vinyls on the player. A track I wasn't familiar with began to play. It was an awkward moment, so I decided to slowly toddle over to place myself on the edge of the bed. "What activity should we participate in now?" I said my hands propping me up, kicking my legs because they didn't quite reach the ground. She slowly walked over to me until she and placed her arms on the bed on the side of me. Amethyst leaned over me, close to my face with a smirk. My eyes widened wondering what to do. She looked at my eyes when suddenly her smile faded. "Peri, what-what are we doing? Are we dating now? Where are we with this? What do we call th-"

I interrupted her. "I don't know Ame, but I think you should kiss me."
