When I Hold Your Hand

I've wished upon a star
It fell between my hands

Caress of infant light
Too pure to understand

Sheer satin over crystal
Touch not to withstand

Heat that melts mountains
Ivories of a baby grand

Gentleness of butterfly wings
Rose petals, drift and strand

Snowflake fingertips sink
My heart into quicksand

Kisses on the shy palm
Brings me to my homeland

A meeting in a living dream
Moment of love unplanned

Ask for anything you wish
Your wish is my command

For when you sing the word
I long for and demand

I surrender my life to you
When I hold your hand.
