When the weight is too much to bear
And the world doesn't seem to care
I return to declare that I need you
When power and might are no dice
And they come at the highest price
The sacrifice is how much I need you
When enemies are vicious and cruel
And allies are but a horde of fools
My rock-solid rule is that I need you
When the pain is no longer contained
And it feels like my hands are chained
What keeps me sane is that I need you
When darkness surrounds my soul
An abyss that swallows me whole
I summon self-control for I need you
When you hold on by my side
Take my hand, my life, my pride
Never forget, my guide, I need you
Lay my head on your curing heart
Let me know that we'll never part
Mother me as much as I need you
Magnificent King and mighty beast
A fragile soul that craves release
Haggard soldier longing for retreat
And you wonder why I need you?
Because life's but a fearsome zoo
Your love is my only retreat
And I will forever need you...
