The Curlew Night Prayer

54 12 24

Silence …

All there is to hear

For an insomniac soul

Fragrance of dawn

Wafting on the breeze

Before the night disappears

Curlew...

A lonely bird song

Seeping through the mist

Midnight cloud of dew

Floating near and far

Searching for home

Melancholy...

Lingering tune echoes

In the dead of night

Crying a wistful plea

A prayer for The One

To be reclaimed

Twilight…

Holed blanket of hope

Curlew wipes her tears

In a stone cave retreat

Where she finds peace

Hiding from the light

The song of the Curlew is the most beautiful thing you could ever hear. I've searched for the right sound on YouTube and I was surprised that the Egyptian Curlew sounds different from the rest of its own kind around the world! Such a unique and mysterious creature.

I hope you enjoy the video in the media. The scene in the video is from the Egyptian countryside and it's even more enchanting in reality. It certainly evokes so many emotions and memories.

Please, listen to the bird and tell me how it made you feel...
