Half A Heart

Chapter Two

I wonder what Edward wants to tell me. Edward is giving me a hard time to focus with Glenn. I definitely want Glenn back, he was my first relationship and I want to save it. I miss him so much, he's been in Japan for 2 months and we haven't chatted online because he's always out with his family. Well that's what he tells me. I really don't know what to do now.

I hope my cousin Charlotte will help us fix and save our relationship. She was the one who always helps us find our way back to each other whenever we fight. I wish she can use her magic this time.

The bell rang already which means first day is over! Yes! I am ready to go home. Suddenly Edward approached me. Oh! I forgot I have to ask him again what was he about to say.

"Hey Ian! How will you go home?" Edward asked.

"Amber and I will take the train back home. You?" Please use the train also! Please!

"Oh, I'm taking the bus home, I guess we're both out of the way." 

"Okay... By the way, what are you going to tell me earlier?"

"Ah! Can I borrow your phone?" Reaching his hand out.

"Here." I placed the phone on his hand.

"Here you go. I saved my number, text me later." He smiled.

Oh shoot! That smile.

"Sure thing! Talk to you later!" I waved.

I approached Amber talking to our other block mate Renz. I guess he'll be taking the train with us too.

When Renz got off the station before our station Amber excitedly asked me.

"So what's with the Edward guy huh???" Shaking my arm.

"Easy... Jeez, can't you get more excited?" I replied sarcastically.

"C'mon! Answer it! Anne and I are dying to know! I know you like him!"

"Well I must admit he's my type, we just talked and he gave me his number."

"I knew it! I knew it! Edward guy is making his moves on you huh? I'm so happy for you!"

"I am not letting him get another move until I figure out what to do with Glenn tho..."

"Oh I forgot about Glenn. So did he texted you already?"

"Nope. I think he'll never do it..."

"Oh c'mon, cheer up! You have Edward now!"

"So how's first day?" Mom asked.

"Great! I already made friends!"

"Good for you honey. After finishing your food, do your homework first! Okay?"

After putting my plate on the sink I took the phone and dashed to my room. I dialed Felipe's number I have to tell him about Glenn because he is my super duper best friend and maybe ask for advice.

After telling Felipe about Glenn. I changed the topic to Edward.

"So what do you think about him?" Felipe asked.

"Well I think he will be a great boy friend... I mean, a guy friend."

"Blah blah, I know you like him. Tell me how he looked like!"

"He's taller than me, I think 5'9"... He's half Chinese by the way! You know I have a thing for their eyes!" 

"Why won't you text him and know him better?" 

"What will I tell him?"

"Well, that's your problem! I have to go, Accounting is a wrong move."

"Okay thanks! Good night!"

"Sure. Remember what I told you, Glenn doesn't deserve your attention, so don't text him. Let him do that and own up for his attitude. Night!"

Yeah! I think that's a good idea. Why would I text him first? He needs to do it if he wants to make it up to me. I plugged in my earphones and played No Surprise by Daughtry. Hmm, perfect song for Glenn.

I stared at my phone while figuring out what to send to Edward.

"Hi! :)" I sent to Edward. 

"Ian?"

Hmm, I guess he's been waiting for my text.

"No, who's Ian?" 

"Oh sorry, I've been waiting for Ian's text. Who is this?"

"Just kidding! It's Ian! :P"

"Hey!!! I knew it was you! Did you have your dinner?"

"Yeah! Thanks for asking! So you've been waiting for me huh?"

So why would he wait for my text? I am really confused, is he into gays? My phone rang, it's Edward!

"Edward?"

"Hey is it okay if we just talk?I've been waiting for your text. I think it's better if I can hear you!"

What the hell? He wants to hear my voice?! You're kidding me!

"Oh sure! So what's up?"

"Nothing just a little bored. You know this is my first time to talk to a gay guy over the phone? I haven't friends with gays before." 

"Really? Well, don't worry we don't bite!"

"Yeah I know because I'm the one who bites! Just kidding. My parents are homophobic. They don't want me to have gay friends but now I think I am on the right age to decide who will be my friends."

My Mom doesn't know that I am gay, or she does? Well I act the same at home so I think she probably knows I'm gay. She knows Glenn, I am pretty sure she knows that Glenn is not just a friend by the way we act inside the house, cuddling and tickling each other. That's not how normal friends hangs out right?

"Well good for you. I am sure your parents are just protecting you from being gay, I think that's how society thinks. You know, this is also the first time I talk to another guy other than my Friend slash Boyfriend slash I don't really know what we are."

Should I be opening up about Glenn to him? Well, I think it's not bad when I share my problems with him. 

"Oh you have a boyfriend? You didn't tell me that during lunch..." 

"I am not happy with what's going on with us right now. So I chose not to talk about him."

"So how are you and you're friend slash boyfriend slash whatever you both have?"

"Well, we're kinda on the rocks at the moment after he had a vacation in Japan over the  summer."

"YES!" He shouted.

"What 'yes'???" Did he said 'yes' because me and Glenn are kinda on the rocks? Really Edward? Really?

"Ah, no, nothing... My m-mom a-asked me something, I said Yes to her." He said while stuttering 

I don't know what's happening to me. I like Edward and I want this friendship to grow more. Shouldn't I be happy right now because I am talking to a guy that I want? Should I focus more on Edward now? But I want to fix whatever I have with Glenn now. God knows how I miss him so much right now. And I still love him. 

"Okay, you said it. Hey, have you finished the homework in Advanced Algebra? My mind is kinda messed up I can't focus on anything." I said

"Hmm, not yet! Want to do it tomorrow morning? Our class will start at 10:00am we can meet at the library at 9:00am. I can help you finish that in an hour! You know how Chinese people are talented in numbers."

"Uhmm, I think-"

He suddenly cut me off.

"-Okay then! I'll meet you there at 9am! Good night! Take a good rest!"
