I woke up to the sound of shouting, it sounded like Jack and someone else having an argument. I went to check out what was going on and I saw Jack yelling at a brown frizzy haired girl, who was yelling back. Then Jack stormed off in my direction.
"What was that about?" I asked as he got closer
He looked at me with shock
"You, you saw that?" He asked kinda fearfully
I nodded my head,
"Yah the noise woke me up so I went to see what was going on and I saw you and some other girl having a nice yelling match."
Jack looked at the ground and spoke
"Oh, well I'm sorry you had to see that... The girl i was talking to is Gretta she makes sure I don't do anything stupid. My father hired her to watch me."
"Why would he hire someone to watch you aren't you 17?"
"Well yes but remember how I told you my father is the chief?"
I nodded
"Well as his son he wants to make sure I present myself in a good manner."
"Oh." was all I could say to that
"I really should tell you that he's been pressuring me to find a wife by the time I'm 18... and, well you see my 18th birthday is in a few months... " he admitted
"Oh, and since we're not supposed to be together you'll need to find a village girl... " When I admitted that my chest felt tight.
Why does it bother me, it's not like I wanted to be with him. Yet I also don't want anyone else to be with him either...
"Lily, what's that face for?" Jack asked bringing me back to reality
"Oh, nothing." I smiled and pretended it was all okay and I didn't care if he... fell, in love... with someone else... My chest grew tight again and my heart hurt. I-I don't wanna lose him... and I don't want him to fall in love with another girl and leave me behind!
"Lily?" I jumped into Jack's arms
"I don't wanna lose you! Tears ran down my cheeks
I looked up at him
"Jack, I like you and I don't wanna lose you!" I cried
Jack hugged me tightly
"I like you too Lily, but who said I was going to leave you?"
I tilted my head in confusion as Jack wiped my tears away.
"I was going to tell you that I'm going to present you to my father."
I looked at him in shock
"Wait, What?" "But Jack, won't your father kill me?"
"Well normally yes, but I'm his son so if he won't listen to me then he'll have to find another heir."
"You would leave everything behind for me?"
He nodded, "Nothing means anything to me if you can't be there with me"
He was so sweet and genuine when he said that I just had to believe it.
I hugged him tighter in return Jack kissed me.
"I love you Lily Erindale" he said as he pulled away.
