Ashton and I stayed at the mall for a couple more hours. We hid in clothes racks and jumped out at people at times, until after the fourth time we were both escorted out of that store. They didn't escort us out of the mall though.

I saw Alyssa again at one point and did my best to avoid her. She was still crying and I actually felt something that I haven't in a while: pity. It was brief but it was there.

After that Ashton took me to dinner at the lovely Burger King. We went into the play structure since it was late and no one was there. We played hide and seek and I hid inside of the slide. Ah, the simple pleasures in life.

He found me when he tried to ditch me by quietly sliding down. He didn't expect me there and screamed. Naturally I laughed and fell down the slide.

After that we went back to my house and turned off the lights. Why? Because Ashton is trying to rid me of my stupid fear.

Although, good things do happen when the lights go out. * winks *

At around eleven Ashton was off somewhere, the lights were still of, and naturally the phone rang, making me scream.

I recovered and answered it. "Hello?"

"Hey Brooke."

"Oh hey Monica."

"How's it going?"

"Fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." I said boredly.

"Well I'll be home tomorrow night and I just wanted to check in. Did the lights go out last night?"

"Yeah."

"Oh how'd you do?"

"I was fine."

"Really? Are you through with that ridiculous fear?"

"Um...yeah."

"Well awesome! I'll see you later hun."

"Bye."

We hung up and that's when I got the ba-jeebies scared out of me. Ashton had snuck up and pinched my sides. I screamed, turned around and hit him. You know how some people have the fight or flight reaction? I have the fight. That is why you don't sneak up on me like that. The other night with the bat was a fluke I swear! Normally I would have beaten someone, and Ashton is really lucky I decided not to.

"What the hell?!" I yelled.

"Sorry sweetheart it's just too much fun."

"I could see him smirk in the dark."

"Ass." I said turning away from him.

"Aw don't be like that." He wrapped his arms around me from behind.

"You know I don't like when you scare me AND call me pet names."

He laughed. "I do know that. Why do think I did it?"

"Then why do you wonder why I call you an ass?"

"Touché."

I chuckled and turned around and kissed him.

"Lemon." Ashton said. He had one of my dad's ties around his eyes and we had gotten two bags of skittles and I was giving his skittles to guess. So far he's gotten them all right.

I gave him a purple one. "Ew! Grape."

"You don't like the grape ones?"

"No! No one does!"
