Chapter 22

Skylar's P.O.V.

I was in the dark realm I had been spending a while in. Just then, I saw a bright, flashing light before I fell to the ground.

"Skylar! Wake up!" I heard someone say.

I groaned as I opened my eyes and saw Jesse and Chazz there. I looked and saw that the whole dueling arena was full.

My friends, father, and godfather were all looking at me with relief.

"Hey, what's going on?" I asked before getting up halfway, still on the ground.

"Wait, did we just duel? Hold on, I beat you both right? I can't remember anything." I told Jesse and Chazz.

Just then, I heard a groan beside me and I saw Syrus there, holding his head.

"What? What happened?" he asked as he got up.

"We dueled you and won. Now, Carmen is no longer in control and you're back with us, where you belong." Chazz said before he stuck his hand out to me.

I looked at him and Jesse, who nodded as he helped Syrus up before
I smiled.

I took his hand and he helped me from the ground until I was on my feet again.

My friends, father, and godfather all stood up before coming to where we were at and we all went outside the arena into the hallway.

They were relieved that Syrus was okay and welcomed him back before turning their attention to me.

Soon, I was engulfed in a hug by my father.

"I missed you, Sky. So much." he said as I heard his voice breaking.

"I missed you, Dad." I told him as I returned his hug.

We pulled away and I looked st my godfather as he pulled me into a hug.

"Skylar, I'm so glad you're back. I thought I would lose my favorite goddaughter." he said.

"Me too. I missed you too." I told him before we pulled away.

I then turned my attention back to my friends. The first one to hug me was Alexis.

"Oh, my god, Skylar! I'm so happy you're back! I thought I was gonna lose my best friend!" she said as she cried into my shoulder.

I smiled and hugged her back.

"Don't worry, Lex. I'm back and I won't be going anywhere." I told her as I patted her back before we pulled away.

Next one to hug me was Blair, and she was crying as well.

"I thought I would lose my big sister!" she said.

I smiled at the girl who I saw as my little, adorable sister as I stroked her navy/purple hair.

"Good to see you again, Blair." I told her before wiping her tears and kissing her head.

The third person to hug me was Bastion and I smiled and hugged him back.

"Good to have you back." he said as we pulled away.

"Good to see you again as well, Bastion." I told him with a nod.

He held out his hand in a fist and me getting the signal, I bumped it with a smile.

I then looked at Aster, who pulled me into a side hug.

"Good to see you again, Aster." I told him as I returned his hug.

"We should get to know each other more." he said.

I smiled and nodded before sending him a thumbs up.

We then pulled away and exchanged nods.

I looked at the two boys that I didn't mean to hurt.

Atticus and Zane.

"I'm sorry, guys. For what I did to you two." I told the two boys I had idolized as my two older brothers.

Zane and Atticus pulled me into them and hugged me.

"Don't be. It wasn't your fault. Besides, it's the past and what matters is that you're back with us." Zane said as he patted my back.

"Zane's right. You don't need to blame yourself for what happened. Nevertheless, you will still be like our little sister." Atticus said before we pulled away.

I then looked at Hassleberry, who pulled me into a bone-crushing hug.

"Little cadet! You're finally back!" he said.

"Good to be back and can't breathe." I told him, making everyone else chuckle as we pulled away.

I finally looked at Jaden, who looked at me as he pulled me into a hug. I looked behind him and saw Yubel smiling at me as she had happy tears forming in her eyes.

"Good to have you back, Skylar." she said.

"Hello, again, Yubel. Still look beautiful as ever." I told her.

She smiled at my comment.

"I missed you, Skylar." Jaden told me.

The boy I had considered a twin brother pulled away before he gave me a smile.

"I missed you too, Jay." I told him.

I finally turned to my uncle, Xavier.

The only one I had left from my mother. I ran to him and he caught me in his arms. As I hugged him, I felt something wet on my shoulder.

It took me a few seconds to realize that Xavier was crying. I smiled as I patted his back.

"Don't worry, Xavier. I'm fine now. I am now able to see my favorite uncle." I told him as I wiped his tears as my dad patted his shoulder.

"I'm just so happy your back, Sky." he said before he calmed down. I smiled and nodded.

I looked at Chazz and Jesse before I hugged them both.

"Thank you, both." I told them before they wrapped their strong arms around me.

Just then, I lost my balance and began to fall as I held my head.

"Skylar? What's wrong?" Dad asked.

"I'm just worn out. I could tell Syrus is too" I told him as Syrus was being helped by Hassleberry.

"Can you walk?" Yugi asked me.

I tried, by ended up almost hitting the ground, being caught by my father.

"Time to take these two to the infirmary so they can recover. They've been through a lot and it has clearly drained them of their energy, so it might be best to let them rest." Crowler said as me and Syrus were being carried out of the dueling arena and to the infirmary.
