"You know he meant it in with no harm intended, right?" Fab tried to reassure me. My face was in my hands, shaking my head.
"He knows not to ask me questions like that. I can never be with Julian unless he thinks it's something like that. He knows that I'm waiting!"
"Well, he knows Julian," he said, moving over and rubbing my back. I leaned into his side, sliding down a bit so that my head was on his ribs.
I knew Fab longer than Julian, and he was a great person to be best friends with. I could confide in him and vice versa, and it was almost like we were brother and sister.
"Has Julian called you today?" Fab asked. I hadn't thought about that.
"Well, no, not a single call. Fab, a serious question. Did I... Did I do anything with Julian yesterday? I can't remember a thing."
"No, silly girl!" he cheered. I felt relived, cause this time I wasn't wrong.
"So Jules hasn't called?" Fab asked again.
"Nah, why?" I said, turning at him and staring at him wildly.
He stood up and ran to his closed bedroom. He opened his bedroom door and there laid Julian, who looked up, smiled, and laid back down.
"I thought you should know why, that's why."
"Hi, A.L.," Julian croaked, pulling himself up and using his arm as a brace. "Happy birthday, sweetheart."
I walked into the bedroom and sat next to him, kissing his forehead.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
"He got in the wrong cab and was too drunk to go home, so he slept here, and has been sleeping all god damn day," Fab explained. He rolled onto the bed and tried to push Julian off. I laughed at his struggling.
"Don't laugh, fucking help!"
"You're never gonna push me off Fab! I won't allow it!" Julian yelled, almost like he was playing a game.
I grabbed Julian's hand and tugged as hard as I could, causing him to roll off and hit the the floor with a thud.
"Fuck, OWWWW," he yelled, which caused Fab and I to burst into laughter.
"Stop fucking laughing, I'm in pain!"
"Doggie pile!" Fab yelled, rolling on top of Julian.
"Don't forget to include me!" I yelled, joining the two men on the floor. Julian was able to throw Fab off of him and picked me up, draping me over his shoulder.
"Put me down, I hate being picked up!"
He waited until we reached Fab's front door. He tried to drop me to the floor, but because height he didn't succeed.
"Curse your 6'1 stature!"
"Well, if I was shorter, it would of been harder to kiss me."
"Birthday kiss?" He asked, smiling slyly.
"I thought you'll never ask."
He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me in and planting his lips on mine. I twisted my head slightly as my hands cupped his face.
"Cough, get a room, cough," I heard Fab say from a far. I stuck my middle finger up at him as I heard him burst into laughter. Julian and I separated, or we wouldn't be able to breathe.
"Come on," he said, intertwining his fingers with mine, "I'll walk you home."
"Just don't do something stupid Julian! I'm watching you!" Fab yelled as Jules closed the front door.

"So what have you done for birthday?" Jules asked. We were huddled together under a blanket on the sofa in Nick and I's living room, cold as a dog's nose. The heating seemed to go haywire, as Nick stated in his Post-It note, and that he was going to stay at Fab's for the night.
"Well, slept, threw up a few times, got lots of calls, made up with Ryan for that phone call, got mad at him for a stupid statement, then went to Fab's."
"What was this 'statement'?" Julian asked, using air quotes.
"Well, he asked if we "did" anything at the party last night," I said quietly. He burst into laughter.
"What?"
"Why would you get mad at him for that? Annabel Lee, you take things too seriously sometimes. And what does it matter if we did something?"
"It matters because I'm not ready for that. Just because we're dating, doesn't mean you're fucking me against a wall every god damn time you lay an eye on me!"
"Okay! Sorry for asking A.L."
I sighed and moved his hair out from his face.
"I'm sorry, alright? That's on another level of commitment that I think 5 months of official dating isn't. Now," I said, getting up from under blanket and shivering, "I'm staying at your house, cause this cold air shit ain't working for me."
"No problem," he smiled, getting up and getting my jacket. He grabbed my arm and whispered in my ear, "Someday, Annabel Lee, someday," before opening the door.
What does he mean by that?
