I opened the bathroom door and smiled my "oh fucking great" grin. Julian looked back, his brown hair half covering his eyes.
"That convo was fairly short."
"Albert's over there, if you were wondering," I told him, sitting back in the same spot I first was in.
"Strange."
"I know, I thought the same thing."
"Here," he said, handing me a glass of wine. I took a long sip from the glass, almost drinking 3/4's of it. Julian looked fairly interested.
"May I get some more please?" I asked in a mocking English tone.
"Sometimes I wonder who's the alcoholic," he said laughing, handing me the bottle. Instead of pouring it into the glass, I took it to the head.
"Who do you think influenced me?"
He leaded over and pecked me on the lips, licking his lips after.
"Mmmm," he hummed, his eyes closed.
I was happy he couldn't see my wide-eyed grin, because I looked like a complete fool. But I could hear Albert's voice in the back of my head forebidding me for beating up myself and that I look "cute" with my wide-eyed grin.
Whatever.
"A. Lee, you alright?"
Man, the time I decided to be distant, I'm staring at him like an wide-eyed fool.
"You know me. Always trapped in space." I snapped my fingers. "Where's the album?"
"In the C.D. player, ready to go." He pressed play and after a few clicks, a melody filled the air.
After 6 songs, two wine bottles, half a bottle of Jack Daniels gone, and rigourous listening, he goes:
"This isn't that bad at all."
And then he goes back into his thoughts and listening, while I was trying not to yawn for a 5th time. I forgot alcohol made me sleepy.
By the time the song "Something About Us" came on, I was almost half asleep until I heard Julian scream:
"This one, Anna Lee. This one is perfect."
I snapped back into consciousness.
I turned to Julian as he was nodding his head.
"The lyrics, the melody, the harmony, everything is fucking right with this."
"How many times have you listened to this?"
"4 times. I thought you didn't mind, since you WERE asleep," he says sarcastically. I punched him in the arm.
"Fuck you too, Casablancas, alcohol is not my thing." He sighed and pressed the pause button. He got up and held out his hand.
"Come on," he said, motioning his head. I obliged, feeling the effects of the alcohol again. He dragged me to his room, because my legs were like jelly.
He went into his closet and threw me a shirt and a pair of pajama pants I had left the time I slept over. I looked at him, hoping he wouldn't peek.
Sometimes I am such a little kid.
"I'll cover my eyes, don't worry."
I changed as fast as my numb body would let me.
"You can open your eyes now, Jules."
All he did was grin.
"The moonlight makes you look so simple. So natural. I'm jealous."
"Mhmm," I replied, plopping myself on to his bed. He turned on his A.C. and dropped himself next to me, engulfing me into his arms. He was so warm, and his scent was empowering. It seemed to be different every time.
"For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams... Of the beautiful Annabel Lee."
That was the last thing I heard from him before my soft breathing filled the room.
