Living in Prairie with Felix was different but it was more peaceful. We didn’t have to deal with the crazy sounds of busy traffic, the sirens of police cruisers every thirty minutes, or the arguments or laughter of neighbors that plagued the old house we lived in. It was a different environment and to be honest, I was actually getting used to it.

Ella’s bumps were getting better. She was still a bit irritated from it but there wasn’t a long time effect for the rest of her life. I was glad she was getting better but I just couldn’t believe I trusted her with a rapist. They said ‘once a rapist always a rapist’ and I didn’t listen to the damn quote. I thought Linlee changed but she never did. She used me and when Ella could walk, she took the chance to get her. I didn’t want to press charges against her because I knew if I did, I would be the one watching her son. And for sure, I had no desire to be part of Linlee’s life anymore.

It was a couple days before the opening day of Felix’s second tattoo institute. He was always gone because he was getting last minute errands but when we were together, it was like magnet. His words enticed me to a dazzle of fine frenzy that could never ever escape unless he completed his mission of warm embrace and seductive romance.  To me, being with Felix was like a fantasy of wild girlish dreams that could only happen when we were together. Felix was handsome and to parallel his good looks, his voice was enchanting as well as his smooth, alluring and fierce personality. Everyone thought we were just crazy in love but I knew we were ready for a lifetime of golden happiness.

Today was the day we would be going around other stores to check out the furniture for the store but as always, Felix was tied up. I growled because it was half past three and the day was ticking slowly away as I pondered in our big house. Ella was playing with her doll and I couldn’t bear staying in the house anymore. I sighed and primped my face a bit more. I was going to go out and I don’t know where but I wasn’t going to stay here. Ella crawled to the room and smiled up at me.

“Mommy?” She asked.

“yes, Ella?” I looked down at her and gasped. The silly girl took off her diaper and was butt naked. “Ella! Get your diaper back on!”

“No mommy! I use potty!” She cried out.

I quickly switched faces and smiled at her. I lifted her up and said, “okay silly bug. But after you use the potty, make sure have your clothes back on.”

Ella giggled and kissed my cheek.

“I love you,” I whispered.

“I love you too.” She said as she snuggled closer to me. Then I felt her head lift up. “Mommy! Is that Felie’s car?”

I turned around to face the window and I saw Felix’s sleek black sports car, slowly shifting down the lanes. “What the hell?” I said.

I placed Ella on the bed and got a pair of fresh diapers and pants and placed them on her. I was going to find out what he was doing. I picked up my boots and shoved them on my feet. “Come on, Ella. We are going to find Felix.” I said.

I lifted her up from the bed and went to the car. Carefully, I drove two cars away from Felix’s sporty car and followed his black car. His car moved and I followed it. Then I watched as his car pulled in a motel. I growled and parked behind a box truck. Ella was in the back seat and she made a fuss.

“Ella, shh. It’ll be okay.” I said.

Ella whined and said, “mommy I want to go outside!”

“Not yet.” I whispered.

I watched as Felix got out of his car and went to the two men who were sitting in a bench in front of a room. Felix handed them a chunk of cash and I frowned.
