Author's Note: This is the LAST AND FINAL chapter of Traveling Vivian. Thank you for supporting me and enjoying to catch in every week or other week for a new update! Unfortunately, this is the end of Traveling Vivian and I am very bittersweet about it. I will be writing an epilogue of the story and it is also being edited. Thank you for the numerous support and I love you all very much! <3
That following day, I awoke with the soothing sound of a lullaby playing. I opened my eyes to find Phil standing in the balcony with dishes and silverware. I shook myself as I tried to think. It felt like thirteen years ago but I know it really wasn’t thirteen years ago. I pinched myself and as soon as I heard the high-pitched voice of Mint and the annoyance coming from Ella’s conversations, I knew I was back to the present. I relaxed on the pillows under me as I looked at the ceiling above. The cumulus clouds moved in a particular way that it felt like I was actually looking at the skies.
Just then, the door to the balcony slid open as Phil emerged through with a pair of sweat pants and a grey fitted t-shirt. I smiled as I folded back the comforter.
“Morning, sunshine.” He spoke in a cool way that sent me in awful shivers.
“Morning. I see breakfast is made.” I said slowly as I looked at the table with fine china, rested outside with the blowing morning wind.
“Yeah. I made it while you rested. It was actually peaceful as you all slept. But then, Mint woke up for a glass of water then Bentley woke up to use the shower. Eventually, it became chaotic.” He raised an eyebrow as he looked away. Then I heard him chuckle under his breath. “Guess I gotta deal with kids, now.” I heard him say.
“It’s going to be different for you with three children but you’ll get used to this.” I smiled at him as I rubbed my hands along his thighs.
Phil placed his soft hand above mine as he looked at me in the eye. My heart soared as I stared at him. His deep brown eyes melted with my blue eyes. I blinked and turned away as he lifted my hand up, swiftly, and placed kisses on them. “I want you to eat something. We have a big day planned for all of us.” He said as he placed my hand down.
I sighed and looked at the door. “Where are the kids eating?”
“Downstairs in Bentley’s man cave.”
“Sounds- exciting.” I muttered. Slowly I rose from the warm bed and looked at the mirror next to the vanity. My long brown hair flowed just past my breasts as I lifted the whole hair and put it into a messy bun. I straightened my nightgown and wrapped myself in a silky tunic robe and opened the door to the balcony.
From this end, I could see the coast of the beach as people started piling up to the sand. Cars rolled in to the parking lot as others drove by the cliffs in search of sight seeing the fantastic houses built on Coves End Hills. I should say we were lucky but I knew Phil had this home before me and he only kept it because of me. We had the private beach and a walkway that led us to it. The newly built boardwalk was only a few minutes away by walking and there was a local center as well. Lubbock changed but I knew it was for the better.
I stared past the shore and knew, past all the peace and serenity that the Hills have shown us, was the isolated, warm and disgraceful land of Nurse Olie. Past the civilized lands, there was nothing but rolling sands and overflowing abundance of cacti that roamed the forsaken place. Houses were sparse there but there was one house that stood out like a bold place of uncivilized lands. Nurse Olie lived there as did I and I planned to bury my worst fears and nightmares there, forever.
I sighed and looked back at Phil as he tapped on the glass. “Babe, breakfast?” He suddenly asked when I stared at him blankly.
“Oh yeah.” I laughed as I looked at my ring. The sparkling oval diamond shined with the sun as it sparkled with the light of the glasses. As I sat down, Phil smiled and opened the dome in front of me. When he did, I noticed my plate of French toasts with two eggs and sausages. I felt my stomach growled as I picked up my knife and had a bite of my food.
