Living in Aurora was a different environment from being in cities like New York City, Chicago or any town we have been living. This city was a quiet, suburban and bustling place where everyone knew each other. The moment we started unpacking our inventory, neighbors came to our doorstep to give us baked goods, food, and even gift cards! The kindness people had in this place was very astonishing. It was a welcoming environment when we stepped out of our home.
Jax and I were married the following week after our move in. We rented out the beach and had a beautiful scene for reception night as candles lit the path for the tented arena. I wore a thin white dress that showed my curves as I walked. Ella was our flower girl and Bentley was our ring bearer. Jax invited a few friends and our neighbors came to our wedding. Our wedding day was the most exciting day ever. We were finally one and we loved each other for more than words can say. I loved him and I couldn’t wait to spend forever with him.
As we danced at night, the lights dimmed and all that shined was the candles. It lit the night as we danced. We hired a musician and his band as they played symphonies. And to be honest, that night was a night I would never forget. That was the day I married Jax, my soul mate, my best friend and my love.
The warm spring day surrounded us as Bentley and Ella played in the play ground in the back. Neighbors around us were doing yard work as I read a book next to Jax. This was a relaxing day. Each time I laid down, the baby kicked and I knew she was going to be born soon.
“Is Mint going to be here?” Jax asked.
“I really hope so. I can’t stand being pregnant any longer.” I pouted. “It’s a good idea we decided to move down here. It’s warm and nice here. I bet back in New York City, it’s probably cold.”
“Usually spring doesn’t start for them until mid April.” Jax laughed as he relaxed back in the lounger.
The kids chased each other across the yard as Ella pretended to be a monster. I figured Ella should be starting school soon and Jax already took enrollment forms to enroll her in a private school for girls. He paid the fee for her tuition and she was all set for the fall.
Sometimes I like to think what if Calvin was alive today. Would we be still living together in that apartment as Linlee committed her crimes elsewhere? Or would we move into a bigger house and possibly have two more children? Calvin always wanted more kids and after all I know now, Calvin was the one I should have respected and not Phil. Would he also include Ella in a private school, just like Jax? Sometimes in my loneliness, I thought of him and I surely miss him.
We cruised around town the next day, while Jax did some errands for his shop. I noticed a large brick building with large printing above the rooftop, screaming out loudly, “Bristle’s Toolhouse”. Jax pulled into the parking lot and got out. I sighed and opened the door.
“Coming in too?” Jax asked.
“Yeah. It looks like there’s more stuff in there besides tools.” I said as I picked up Bentley from his carseat.
Jax nodded and held Ella’s hand. We walked to the entrance and immediately, I spotted someone I didn’t want to see ever again. I gasped and almost dropped Bentley until Jax caught him. I looked away from the person and ran towards the lawn and yard section.
“Vivian! We don’t need anything from lawn and yard! Come on! Masonry is this way.” Jax laughed.
I looked away from him and yelled, “I have to go to the restrooms!”
“Vivi, the restrooms are this way.”
I growled and turned around. I walked towards the kids and held Ella’s hand. We passed by the person and I could almost cry. Slowly from the corner of my eyes, Phil’s chatter with his customers stopped and he looked at my direction. I hid my belly and slowly, my tears fell down. Jax was walking ahead from me and I looked at him. This was bad. I loved Jax and I truly do but the feelings for Phil were still there.
