Zayn's P.O.V

I drew a breath as I listened to the tiny heartbeat I had created, it sickened me yet I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that it was okay. Perrie squeezed my hand and I laughed nervously, wiping the bead of sweat that was sitting on my brow. The picture didn't resemble much of a baby, more like a small alien in a black and white movie.

"It's good, it's healthy...but are you?" the doctor asked Perrie, "Your young and fit, but this is a huge responsibility. It's a life, not something that lasts until Christmas and then looks after itself."

Perrie trembled and burst into tears again, the doctor looking guilty for making her so emotional.

"Could you give us a minute?" I said awkwardly, though I didn't want to be left to deal with such a serious situation...alone.

He nodded and closed the door softly behind him on his way out, the room suddenly quiet except from the odd muffled cry from Perrie.

"Hey..." I whispered, pulling her into my arms, "It's okay? The baby's fine, your fine-"

"I don't think I can do this, Zayn," she muttered.

My eyes widened and I buried my face into her hair, my gut twisting as she went on about the consequences. I knew a baby was a huge deal, I knew how young and fragile her body was yet I didn't protect her. And it was killing me.

"Are you saying...you want an abortion?" I said softly, wincing at the word.

It was disgusting, going against nature and destroying something before it had even began. But I knew it was too much right now, we had known each other for a short period of time and I had already ruined her life. She cried harder and I rocked her back and forth to settle her, hushing her gently.

"I...I don't want to kill it," she struggled through the tears, "but I can't cope with this. I let Jade down, how can I look after a baby?"

I nodded and left her lying while I fetched the doctor who was way wandering aimlessly in the reception.

"Is she alright?" he asked quietly so the nosy clients could not overhear.

I went to tell him everything but I just couldn't get the words out, but he seemed to understand.

"She...we've decided to...get rid of it," I said firmly.

He nodded and went into a small room, returning with a white pill in his hand. I looked away and followed him back into the room where Perrie was gnawing at her fingertips, her face pale with nerves.

"Okay, so Perrie I understand that you want to do what's best...and I totally agree. But are you sure this is what you want?" the doctor said calmly.

She looked from me to the doctor and back again, nodding very slowly as he pushed the pill into the palm of her hand. I covered my mouth with my hand and paced up and down the room, rubbing my temple as she went to place the tablet on her tongue. She trembled and spat it out quickly, wiping her lips with the back of her hand.

"I can't do this," she cried, pushing past me and running into the hall where she threw up.
