Dépaysement
(n.) When someone is taken out of their own familiar world, into a new one.
Somehow they convinced me. Convinced me to go to that damned decade themed party and I am ready to shoot myself in the face.
Since I got the 50's, I decided to borrow one of my grandma's dresses and she was totally okay with it. It was a short sleeved, knee lenght, white dress with lots of lemons on it, on the back there was a small heart shaped cut out. I'm actually digging this dress.
"This look makes me wish I had 50's." Nisha said and I smiled at her, she looked bomb in her bright 80's outfit. She's reminding me of Lisa from Saved By The Bell but a little more, extravagant.
"Same but I would actually dress like Sandy from Grease, after she got her makeover of course." Elliot said, standing up to stand beside me to check out her 2000's outfit in the body lenght mirror. She looks like a Paris Hilton clone and I almost died from laughing after I saw her dressed like that, it's a totally different look for Elliot.
"God the 2000's were such a tragic decade for fashion." Elliot said and sat back on my bed fixing her pink lipgloss.
"I think you look cute, but Z is right, you look exactly like Paris it's scary." Nisha said and touched her fluffy hair. We all look like we're nuts. This party may not turn out that bad and I after all need a distraction from all the momma drama.
I stepped into my yellow pumps and made sure that my white fringe socks looked good.
"U should do your hair like this more often." Nisha said and admired my pinned up Marilyn Monroe curls. I nodded in agreement, I should.
"Okay girls the party started twenty minutes ago, time we go too!" Nisha said and placed her phone in her fanny pack, which made me chuckle.
I locked the house and we got in my old school Mercedes-it actually matches my look for tonight- and drove off to the location that Nisha typed into her GPS while she told me the directions from the passenger seat.
After about ten minutes of driving full with trap music and Nisha and Elliot arguing, we arrived at the location. It was probably one of the biggest houses here in Hollowback. There we lots of cars but still enough places to park since they made the front lawn a big parking lot.
We got out and walked over to the house after I locked my car door. Loud hip hop music was coming from the house and you could see many different lights.
We walked up the the few steps of the house and greeted some of our fellow schoolers. At the door stood a guy, about our age, 80's clothing. We had to give him our invitations and got a flyer about the activities at this party and walked further into the house.
And I'm shocked. So many people from our school were here dressed in their themed clothing having fun and dancing around. It was weird to see al those people all dressed like people from different decades having fun.
"It looks lit." Elliot said, with her hands in her denim mini skirt. I nodded and held onto my clutch extra tightly in case it slipped off my shoulder or anything.
There were all separate sections in the large living room for the different decades. You had the 50's, 70's, 80's, 90's and the 2000's. There was no 60's one for some reason. In the middle of the living room was also a seating place for
All the separate sections had ropes in front of them and all decorated in the decades. I'm genuinely happy that I came to this party now. It's a good executed party and different too. I wonder who came up with this and whose party this is.
