My life was pretty much perfect right now. I had two amazing men in my life, and a friend I could relate to as a sister. School was okay, although I was definitely not changing my beliefs about high school.
"Yeah, I'm free... What? No!!!"
Jay was loving my girly side.
I put it on speaker, "I was kidding, so you're free this evening?"
He was calm, though I wasn't sure he had forgiven Dwayne. He didn't assault him, but by assaulting his best friend, Dwayne had even bigger problems than myself to deal with.
I had forgiven Dwayne and things were fine again. They were perfect even. It was weird how I had forgiven him, but everyone around me hadn't. We were taught to forgive. The ability to forgive was a distinctive trait in humans.
"I should come over?" I glanced at Jay.
I turned the phone towards Jay again, "And Jay can come along too."
**********~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~
We stood in front of the sprawling mansion, repeatedly checking the text he sent me, was this where he leaved?
Jay snickered,"Rich, handsome, built, he adores you, I'm not seeing any downsides here."
I rolled my eyes playfully, "I would still pick you over him."
He smiled and we walked into the house, surprisingly, there were no guards or anything.
Jay knocked on the door and immediately, the door came open.
Dwayne stood there, grinning. He was in a white tee and joggers.
"Jay," he called, it was obvious he forced it, then he turned to look at me, "Amber!"
He pulled me close and placed a kiss on my forehead and I blushed. I noticed Jay wince. He didn't like that he wasn't the only one who had that effect on me anymore.
He cleared his throat, intentionally making it noisy, "Let's go in, shall we?"
Dwayne sighed and motioned, "After you."
Jay and I walked in, but I gave Dwayne another glance to say,"What can I do?" to which he responded with a warm smile.
The house was empty.
"You live alone," Jay said, it wasn't a question, and he wasn't interested.
"Actually my parents are out," he gave Jay a look that appeared like the inverted smile emoji.
Jay ran his tongue over his lips, "Oh."
Dwayne took my hand.
"You know, all this talking is making hungry," Jay cut in.
I arched my head. He shrugged.

His dining room was larger than where I slept. Wine colored drapes hung across the windows, the only thing providing lighting was the million dollar-esque chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
"You know... " Jay started between bites of the lamb,"Your chef cooks a mean meal."
I smiled at Jay, he didn't like meat, he said that because he wanted to be friendly towards Dwayne to put me at ease.
"Thanks, I'll tell him to keep up the good work."
Jay grinned,"So, how did you and Amber meet?"
Dwayne and I replied at once, "Hallway collision."
We looked at each other, smirks playing on both our faces.
Jay took another bite of the lamb,"A bit cliché," he said, pulling at the meat, "Don't you think?"
I rolled my eyes, "Isn't everything?"
Dwayne laughed out loud.
Jay sulked,"It wasn't that funny."
Dwayne shot back immediately,"I would laugh about anything Amber says. I like it when she's at ease."
Jay went red immediately and I felt like I was in between some heavy crossfire.
We finished our meals silently.
"You guys into marine life?"
I was confused.
"I have a million dollar aquarium in a room, I could show you."
Jay arched a brow, "Literally?"
Dwayne laughed, "Actually it was nine hundred and fifty thousand."
I glanced at my phone. 7:30pm.
I winced,"Actually, Dwayne, I think we should get going."
He blinked,"Oh, okay. I guess I can show you out."
I wasn't surprised. We could get lost in his place.
During our walk to the exit, Jay and Dwayne were giving each other looks. None of them genuinely liked the other.
Dwayne pushed the door opened and allowed us go out first.
Jay and I stood in front of his door, smiling. Well, I was smiling.
"Thanks for inviting us over."
He smirked, "Anytime."
We turned to leave when I felt Dwayne pull my hand. I turned round and stared into his eyes. Jay did the same.
He pulled me close and placed his palms at the sides of my face, stroking them gently. He moved to my hair and twisted it a little before returning to my face. He came closer. Closer. Closer.
I can't hurt you Amber
"No!!!! " I yelled, pulling back abruptly. My eyes were widened.
"No. No. No." I broke down in tears.
Jay bit his lip and pulled me, he gave Dwayne a sorry look.
"I'm sorry. She's just..."
He nodded, "I understand."
He waved at him,"Thanks again."
Forgive... But never forget
A/N
Heyyy, I felt I had to write this so I wouldn't be promoting something terrible. Amber's been mad at me since. Like, Amber can't instantly forgive Dwayne after he assaulted her and fall right back for him, that would make her seem like a tool, idk, anyway I didn't feel okay about how quickly she forgave him. And it turned out it move the plot further so I couldn't just leave Amber looking like a prize or something, I don't know. Do you guys get it?
