Walking in the soggy ground with the morning rain drizzling onto poor Samth and Espex, The seal hoods protected their hair from the rain and a little of their face but they still were being drenched in the downpour.
"May I ask a question Espex?"
He turned with his hood up, hiding most of his face but his mouth and glowing purple eyes. "Not at all ask away."
"Why did Lord Bore when we first met scream calling you demon walker?"
With a sigh Espex replied "I suppose now that you are travelling with me, you should know a bit about me." He turned fully to her and both them stopped in the rain. "I am rather famous, not because I have wondered these lands for years but because of my special mana power only I have. I can summon creatures from another plain of existence and they can fight for me. This has caused many problems for me as lords and nobles want my power for themselves. Look I will show you." We knelt down onto the soggy wet grass and placed his right hand onto the ground while holding his other to his seal skinned top. The air around Espex began to twirl and bend around him. Grass seemed to move in the opposite direction of the wind and the rain almost bends away from him. "Rik Ta'protettur zghar!" Lifting his hand off the ground a small creature no bigger than a cat stood looking at Samth. It stood up right wearing long red trousers made of some sort of leather. It had large feet almost like a rabbits and wore no top and had human hands. Instead of four fingers and a thump, it possessed three fingers and a thump. It made its long tail wrap around its waist. It had the face of a dog or mouse, with large ears pinned back. The most amazing thing was that its fur was bright blue with hints of white here and there. "This is Grix a very old and dear friend to me." The little creature waved its hand like a human at Samth who screamed in reply. The scream startled Grix and Espex. Both leaped back in fright. "Calm down calm down he is friendly show her Grix." Her screaming still at full volume, Grix the small creature burst forward at a speed that would beat a hare in a race. It scuttled up her seal skinned trousers around and round like a snake she blinked and it was on one of her shoulders. It made a noise like a cat and dog at the same time. Not too loud to hurt and not too quiet to not hear. It was a greeting. Her scream lessened as it sat on her shoulder. "See he is saying hello to you." Her hooded face was turned towards the little Grix. It sat on her with a tilt of its blue head.
"H-h-hello little Grix." The words were slow but came out true.
It barked once more and pulled out its gloved small hand. Samth pulled her arm up to shake its small hand. "Well done know that we are friends he will be staying with us, He will protect you within Gord."
She spun her hooded face to Espex. "Protect me!? He's so small a bird could take him." turning to Grix "No offence." The little creature chuckled in a high pitched tone and aimed its hand at Espex. With a loud bark air spun around Grix and shot forth towards Espex hitting him like a moving wall, he flew back rolling in the wet soggy grass staining his brown seal suit with patches of green and brown. Samth stood laughing with Grix on her shoulder that seemed to be barking with laughter too.
Bitterness in his voice Espex stood up patting himself down of grass and mud. "Very funny Grix, good to see you haven't changed. As you can see Grix is a master of wind mana." Still a smirk plastered across Samths skinny face she petted Grix on the head.
"I think he is very impressive. And cute now that the whole he's not from here bit is gone."
"You just like him because he blew me away." Espex huffed in his low voice.
They all suddenly burst back into a laughing fit as they continued to walk forward towards the great white city of Gord. As they talked Espex told her more about himself how he can summon bigger fiercer things than Grix. How Grix was the first summon he ever did and his first friend. He told her how he is a wanted man by Lords and Nobles for causing large amounts of damage with his mana and creatures. "They want me for experiments so that others like me can be created. I will not allow that to happen. Lord Bore if he captured me would have handed me to the king of Skov. This is why I wonder and this is why I must find the certain person I am looking for, before it's too late." The tone darkened after he said that sentence and all three walked in silence. Grix still on Samths shoulder as the rain poured and the day passed.
"How much further until we reach the city of Gord?" Samth asked.
Pointing over the horizon "Just over this big hill." Responded Espex
They both walked and panted up the steep hill until they reached the top. Samth could not believe her eyes. A large city before her very eyes, walls higher and thicker than she had ever seen. Made of pure white stone a large gate stood in the middle of the wall protected by many guards. The walls hid the castle and buildings within the city. The outskirts of the city was farm land and roads of people travelling to and from the great city of Gord.
"That is Gord. Hard to believe it is still a twenty to thirty minute walk away." Espex said almost boasted.
Samth couldn't help but have her jaw left unhinged at the magical sight. She had never seen or heard anything from the city. It now stood in front of her. Purely amazing.
