A crack rippled up and across the entire great halls walls. The wooden floor boards exploded in all directions and a shockwave ripple exploded within the eardrums off all inside the hall. In the center of this stood Grix. To avoid the attack hitting Samth he jumped in front of the spell. Samth hadn’t asked him, nor did she want him to do it. This was all Grix choice. Espex lowered his hand, while he dodged another great swing of the giant white scythe from Dan. With a spin Espex countered Dan and sent him flying towards his brother Kyle. Asura kept attacking the great demon, mainly hitting his lower stomach and his arms.
On the floor in a pool of red blood Grix body lay. Fure just looked at the poor animal as did Dypes, they knew little of him to mourn he was just a causality of Espex madness. Samth however was another story, she knew Grix well. He was a friend and a teacher. He taught Samth most of her wind magic. He was also someone she talked to and laughed with when Espex went on wonders. All that finished now all that gone. Grix lay before Samth as his blood trickled forward towards her face on the ground. The fact Grix was dead didn’t hit Samth, he was just injured to her; he would be fine after a few days. She needed to stay in control. The mana she was harnessing was massive one slip up and she would explode.
Espex did everything in his power to approach closer and closer to Samth who lay on the floor, blood under her chin, her own blood coming out her nose and ears.
“Damn girl, stop harnessing mana! It’s killing you!” Dypes shouted as he ducked under a swing from Espex’s large claws.
Fure grabbed Samth and pulled her up to her feet, her foot splashed into the crimson blood of Grix. Samth finally looked down. Tears flowed down her red cheeks like a waterfall.
“You killed him… you killed Grix… Your friend.” Bitter anguish in her sweet voice. “You killed him!”
The room exploded out, a wave of pure mana erupted from Samth’s small figure. Asura who couldn’t handle the mana wave either flew back or simply died. Dypes countered the wave with his own mana burst; acting like a shield it protected him. Fure used her intense strength to bear down and take the hit. The three barker brothers all countered the same way Dypes did and threw out their own mana, unlike Dypes and his vast energy the brothers all ended up on their backs. Espex simply took the blow unaffected by it. He stormed forward towards Samth. Anger was the only emotion Samth had right now. She could see Espex make his way towards her. The only two people left standing that could fight him were Dypes and Fure. Everyone else was either dead or on their backs unable to move.
“Fear!” Espex boomed as he grew ever closer to Samth.
Fure shot forward about to launch her entire body into Espex chest but as she reached out she collided with a massive crunch has her ribs broke. Espex had used his remaining wing like a whip and shot Fure away like a ball.
Slamming her petite hands together Samth boomed forward with confidence. “I am sorry Espex! Forgive me!” His hand close to her neck as she spoke the chant. “Grande Lance de la mort!”
The fear Espex had felt was right on the dot. A great hole now appeared in his monstrous purple chest. The hole was large than any man’s torso and poured with blood. Espex hand still frozen inches away from Samth’s, red crying face. Fear plastered across his demonic face, blood trickled out his nose and his shining purple eyes white and void of life.
Fure stood up off the ground to look at Samth’s face through the hole in Espex torso. Sadness overtook Fure, her grandchild stood dead. A lord’s death, he died standing. Silence was ever present inside the great hall now, the screaming and dying gone. Just the deathly silence of the end of battle. Many Asura knew it well as did Dypes. Samth broken just looked into Espex white eyes. She remembered all the time she spent with Espex and all he taught her, from harnessing mana to exploding it out in white light. She wondered what she would be doing right now if she hadn’t met him on that fateful night months ago. This thought helped her drift into an exhaustion sleep.
