Espex The Demon Mage. (1)

Chapter 21: Start of a bigger Journey.

 A day had passed; Samth had never walked at night. It was scary but also interesting. Espex had used a light spell to make a torch from his hands to see where they were going. Grix always on the lookout for a threat on her boned shoulders. After leaving the Harrow, it was mainly big wheat fields followed by grass fields. No roads or houses just wild life. They had caught and ate a rabbit and used magic to do it. Espex left his small dagger and bag in Gord once he transformed. Samth's skinny pale face was a little whiter than usual and she had two large purple bags under her eyes. Espex however was as white as usual his ghost white skin whiter than the white armour he wore. Samth's clothes once clean and nice, now muddy all colour gone. The mud had seen to that. They continued to walk until they reached the small shack once more. First thing both them did was sleep. Espex got in made a bed from some of the cloths in the corner Samth had slept on a few days prior. Samth went into the corner and slept. Both woke up the following day, refreshed and full of energy. Espex had gotten up before Samth and had tidied the place up, the table and chairs all over the place from Haya and Samth fighting. Once Samth woke Espex spoke to her.

"Samth. We will be leaving here soon, to head north towards where I come from."

Samth looked at him was drowsy eyes but curiosity "Wow really. How long will it take?"

Espex looked at her with his purple bright eyes, a large smirk on his face showing his new sharp back teeth. "Three months walking." Samth's jaw dropped and her blue eyes opened wide. "I know it's going to be a hellish trip. Are you sure you want to come?"

Without of second thought she replied "Yes!"

Grix on the table was barking and clapping while eating a small mouse he found. A little unsightly but then it was what he ate.

Espex smirked and looked at Samth before leaving the shack. "I am glad I found you."

Samth looking at his back and watched him rub his beard. "What did you say?" A smile across her big red lips.

Espex didn't reply he just walked out into the sunny day.

In a heavily shadowed room sat many people around a stone round table. Twelve seats all taken but two.

"Jaq and Kruem will not be joining us today." Coext said sitting on the middle.

Everyone apart from the king sat with hoods on hiding their faces.

"The Mage have finally risen. Gord as their base. What shall we do?" Coext asked.

"Obvious we attack them full force." said one of the hooded figures. His voice rough and low.

"Don't be a fool Unox; a frontal assault will be useless against Mage. We need to plan this out,"

"Indeed I agree with you Hyon. But what?" Coext asked.

"Don't you see this is a distraction? With this war Espex can move around what's to say that he isn't spreading word around?" A woman called Pipy added.

"No they would be better off using the faster mage, Haya." Hyon added his voice smug.

"Let's do this. Half of us keep our eye on the war on the mage and the other on getting Espex." One of the most intellectual people in the circle, said Bhund.

"I agree with that Bhund anyone against it?" Coext asked no one denied the plan. "Then we need the six fighting the mage to get prime targets, Lusan do you have anyone?"

Lusan replied "Yes we should target Tate the leader, Amun the Brutal he is said to be stronger than Tate for his age. Haya the speed demon, killing him will kill the recruitment and information. These people should be our main focus."

"What about Oq the weapon forger? He could be a very good team mate to the mage cause, shall we deal with him?"

Coext replied to Mnuis "Yes."

"Is it true Espex has a powerful student?" Bhund asked.

"Yes Kruem and Jaq said they saw a young woman with great mana in the fight." Unox added. "She could be a problem but we got to find them first."

"Indeed we do." Coext said. "I want you to split yourselves up to who is after Espex and who is after Mage, Jaq wants the mage while Kruem wants Espex. I have allowed them their choices."

"No wonder have you seen Jaq's face! Kruems arm was reformed with mana but it's a little different you seen it, you could call him Espex version two point o." chuckled Bhund.

"Interesting I shall need to see this." Pipy said.

"OK ladies and gentlemen don't let me down. Remember we do this for peace." Coext words always filling his men with hope and power. Everyone around the table cheered.

On a hill overlooking the shack stood Espex, His armour white and holding a large bag. Next to him was Samth, blue muddy cloth covering her body and a multi-coloured bag around her back.

"This is the place I used to come to train when Tate took me in. This was my second home. We will not be seeing it for a while. I learned a many thing reading books here." Sentiment in his speech.

"I found your purple book, I couldn't get a read of it, and Haya took it from me."

Espex spun round wide eyed in panic. "Are you sure you didn't read it! Not a word?!" his hands on Samth's body.

She panicked "No not a word!" Grix barked and looked fiercely at Espex.

"Good that book is no good Samth."

"What is wrong with it? Haya said you wrote down how you got your powers in it."

"No Samth. I got my powers from it."

Both looked at each other in silence.

"I am sorry Samth. That book is what I am trying to undo. This is why I am searching for a man. If the king gets me and finds out about that book. This world will be done for, good reasons or not."

Samth could not believe her ears. A book she held in her very hands is what cursed Espex to his demon fate.

"It's only three months Espex. Then you will find the person you are looking for and you can return to normal."

Espex smirked and looked at her "Aye indeed lass. Three months. In that time I am going to make you strong."

"I am already strong." Smugness leaping out her red lips.
